Wonder how many duck fans are conflicted about this game. Stanford is the main challenge to Oregon's run at the conference and if UW manages to beat them not only does that take pressure off Oregon, but it brings college gameday to the next game and a bigger spotlight on the Ducks as well as the Huskies. It shoots that game to one that will get a lot more national exposure maybe than any other game the ducks will play.

So which is it: The pure hatred at any cost, or pulling for the team that does the most for you? (Yes, I don't expect to get an honest answer here.)

And for the record, no I don't expect UW to win that game. I've been on record since spring saying I think Stanford is the best team in the conference. I really think they can run the table with their schedule. All of their tough games are at home and they don't have any real challenges on the road.

Whoever wins Oregon most likely has to beat HtoH for the conference North bid to the CG.

With Kiffen fired, and the whole Fiasco with the Trojans, ASU could steal a lot of there recruits. A new stadium would be great right now, just not that ugly canopy something like a over the top cover would be great........

ASU wouldn't be one of the top 4 out west to poach quality top national talent from a depleted USC. Sorry, that's just how it is. I think even Arizona might be a more attractive place for top offensive skill positions than ASU. Oregon, Stanford, and UCLA would be miles ahead of you. UW is also up there with all their top 20 classes over the last few years.

UCLA stands to gain the most in a wounded USC as long as they can keep improving and winning big games.

As for your new stadium, the stay free maxi lid will set you apart from all other stadiums in the world. Don't change a thing. :yahoo:

Ducks quietly want us to beat Stanford so it makes the path to the PAC12champ game and a NCG bid easier for them. End of story.

How would that make it easier? You are basically bashing your own team dude.... :wtf2:

When will a Pac 12 Championship game be played in a south division venue. Not for 10 years.

How? Oregon has to beat Stanford no matter what happens in this weeks game.

If Stanford beat Oregon they both have a loss and Stanford would get bid.

Not worried about either.

ASU has recruited much better in the past. Even in the not so distant past, top 25ish, top 30ish classes were common if not the norm. It's just a function of success. The only teams that have a natural advantage recruiting in the conference are the LA schools due to proximity to the primary recruiting base. Otherwise, all ASU has to do is start winning more games, and they'll do just fine. I anticipate they'll wind up with a top 25 type class this season if they win 10 games.

Its not gonna be a maxipad that was just said to get people exciting, there wont even be shading until the near future. As you can see we have a pretty good class already. I already know Casey Tucker is coming here from going to highschool and having kids who are commited to ASU tell me. We will put together a strong class. Uofa=0 football history.

Oregon has to beat both on the road and their fans all believe they will both be easily won. So the question isn't which helps them stay undefeated, but which gives them more intangibles. Do they believe UW losing that game helps remove confidence and makes their game vs us easier? Would a pissed off UW be worse for them? There are always those thoughts in every match up. Now add that UW beating Stanford puts a lot more publicity on the Pac with College Gameday coming to Seattle to cover the game. You know, all those voters in the polls and the people who typically don't see much out west from the SEC and east coast regions. That speaks to their vanity. Stanford beating UW and doing so big would speak to their hatred.

Which voice wins out in their minds? I find it a fascinating question. Some of them insist they have beaten UW so much that it isn't even a rivalry now. If that is true then favoring us to beat Stanford is an easy choice. Somehow I think those deep lines of hate are far more strong than many care to admit.

Scout.com: Michael Lazarus Profile

Scout.com: D.J. Calhoun Profile

I have a good feeling about these 2. DJ Calhoun a decommit from USC was retweeting ASU all night saying "Strong!" and 'Dont sleep on the devils". Lazarus is his best friend and is also high on ASU. Both have ASU high on there list. Rich Rod has burned his scholarships once again and has shown he doesnt give a shit about defense no name in state JC players again. SMH. Dont forget about Tashon Smallwood another decommit from USC who is best friends with Manny Wilkins an ASU 4 star commit, he is recruiting a bunch of players to come to ASU.

If I'm a high caliber offensive recruit I'm thinking twice about going to UA. Carey led the nation in rushing and nobody cared. Matt Scott had an amazing season and led the Pac by a mile in yards per game and didn't get drafted despite IMO being a better QB than half the guys on the board. OTOH you have Osweiler who only played one year at ASU get drafted in the second round ahead of a proven talent in Nick Foles after leading a shitty 6-6 ASU team. And if I'm a high caliber recruit on defense I don't even consider playing for Rich Rod.

You are right about UCLA having the most to gain from a down USC. I think the Kiffin firing will actually help recruiting for the Trojans though. A lot of recruits came out and said they would not consider USC until Kiffin was gone.

None of this matters though. Not after recruits see how badass they'll look in flame helmets :yahoo:

The south is so bad right now they don't even help raise the rankings of the north team that gets the pleasure of spanking them. Play in the south? Not any time soon.

Casey Tucker would be a nice get after missing out on several previous top lineman in state. Really, if ASU can just keep the best Phoenix talent home, and do just alright in SoCal and Texas, they'll have a top 20 class every year. There have been an awful lot of big time talents that made it to the NFL from the valley that didn't go to ASU lately.

Perhaps it is hubris on my part, egotism or even conceit; but if I am a high profile recruit and have the grades, why would I not choose Stanford. Yes it takes work, and yes you have to still go through admissions. Seriously though, that education is worth something to those who do not drink and squander it away as I did.

Did something change? I thought the joke about Stanford was that the hardest part was getting in.

Lol, that joke is only partially true, I almost failed out freshman year. I managed to pull my grades up and graduate in 3.5 years. Truth is though, I am one of the only people I know there happy to make a pittance to teach rather than starting their own company or going into law or medicine.
