More proof that you have no clue what you are talking about!! Clancy Pendergast's defenses have given the Ducks problems and now he has better, faster athletes than he's had before!!

Hate to say it, but I agree. The only problem (and its a big one) is that USC's offense is so terrible even a great defense wouldn't save them against Oregon. I doubt we get a chance to see it anyway, but if we do (PAC12 Championship), my bet is that Oregon's defense and ST scores more than USC's offense does.

USC does have a menacing and fast defense. Possibly better than Stanford.

1. A decent win over a decent program once a year
2. A loss to Oregon

Offense needs lots of work!! Kessler needs better timing with his receivers (especially on deeper routes) and we need to convert better on 3rd down!! Our offense probably left 3-4 touchdowns on the field against USU by squandering excellent field position that our defense provided them with!!

I think alot of it has to do with Kessler and the O-lines inexperience and the only way to fix that is keep playing and learning.

As for facing Oregon, if we play them, it will be in the PAC-12 CCG and if we get there, it will be because our offense got stuff figured out!! If we had to play Oregon now. Our defense would keep us in it until about halfway through the 3rd quarter. After that, with no help from the offense, Oregon would run all over a tired defense!!

These games are usually scheduled years in advance, so they were banking that Tennessee would be good, Virginia would be decent and then they'd have Nicholls St. as their cupcake!!

Lets clarify a few things. First, I don't condone bad fan behavior, and I apologize for your mother, that really really sucks dude. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, and to be honest it sorta one-ups my beer bottle story.

Secondly, I am from Oakland, born and raised. Not Oregon. I went to College there after the Army and that's when I became a Duck fan. It was 1997, right about the time when the Husky fans were about as rude as I have ever seen.

Lastly, lets not talk championships. As a Raider, A's, and Warrior fan we have plenty.

And I love smack talk between fan-bases. I love tailgating with other teams and their fans, and nothing is out of bounds until things get physical. Its kind of just how I was raised. Maybe an Oakland thing, I don't know. I have usually found most forums to be fun and full of smack talk. I guess I did not realize that I have to "work my way up"....

The hatred between UW and Oregon goes way back to at least the 50's and has always ran both ways. The hate actually started from the ducks side when UW refused to 'vote' for them when there was a tie between Oregon and Cal one year and the tiebreaker was teams voting. I will never like or respect your school, but I have had plenty of friends who went there. If you choose to treat everyone with a UW next to their name based on how one bad fan treated you then go for it. You can't deny assholes exist in every stadium and it cuts both ways.

When was the last time any of the teams from oakland had a championship? I love that duck fans tell us we can't bring up championships from the past, but that counts? :rollseyes:

Smack talk is something you do to people you hate, or people you have a rapport with that you know can take it. Smack talking strangers is called trolling on boards and I don't put up with it myself. Couldn't care less who you know you are a stranger to me.

Mamba, oly, and a few other duck posters up here have shown they can have normal conversations and we have a history enough to give some back and forth. Other posters like OcD have no ability to carry on a real conversation and are given no quarter to give any smack talk. You come up here with guns all blazing and until you prove otherwise you will be treated like OcD. If you can get out from behind that cocky bullshit and carry on a normal conversation maybe you can earn the same respect they already have. Maybe IB deserves whatever attitude you want to bring. He's probably the UW equivalent to OcD, but if you want to talk to us all the same because of one guy who likes fighting this isn't going to end up being the nice place to have the smack talk back and forth you describe.

I'm not throwing in the towel, we are still very much in the running for the south, which has been the goal all along, but the Stanford game showed us that we aren't there up front yet to be an elite team. The Rose Bowl is probably out of reach this year but winning the south, going to and winning the Alamo Bowl would be a successful season IMO.

If we're not out of running for the South, why are we out of running for the Rose Bowl? You're conceding that the North will win the CCG. They haven't done that yet, and every candidate for the North title has been beaten, they are not invincible. Oregon lost last year, Stanford lost twice, so did Washington. Yes, they will be the favorite likely, depending on the development of other teams in the PAC. A successful season will be winning 8 games and going to and winning a bowl, but I'm not ready to settle for that yet.
