People seeing how good Lache Seastrunk is....Remember, this dude was a 5th string RB at Oregon. Says A LOT about our talent. A LOT.

do these people not realize that Mariota is considered Heisman favorite?

I think most of the PAC folks do and most people that are more than casual fans.

The casual fans always brings up the LSU game where Oregon got whipped.

This team is better than that one. And that LSU team was so dominant in the reg season. They smoked everyone and the Ducks scored more than anyone vs LSU that season. Beating a team twice is soooo tough. That is another question mark. Might have to beat UCLA twice.

The Ducks have to take care of business against the loaded PAC North and UCLA because if a NATTY is coming this is Oregon's perfect storm. SEC may be @ 90% OF WHAT THEY USUALLY ARE AND THIS IS Oregon's best team I have ever seen.

No matter. Lots of football left. If somehow Oregon can manage to stay unbeaten which is going to be a hell of a feat this year, I am certain that whomever they would play will be ready.

Sorry for caps :nanner fingers:

Teams are not defined by how badly they beat up bad competition, but by how they respond to adversity when they face it. Oregon has a brand new HC and brand new play caller. No one knows how they will respond to a game where there is a slow start, turnovers, or otherwise they are not firing on all cylinders. Until you have some examples to draw from there is no way to substantiate your claims. Of course people will be skeptical until given a reason not to be.

Don't see going unbeaten in the PAC is that big of a stretch.

Oregon has its been team ever on the field.

No one else in the PAC has shown anything in 4 weeks that has me worried to even contend with Oregon.

Of Oregons "Big" threats, the opponent plays some big games before Oregon. UW plays Stanford the week before and Stanford plays, is it UCLA the week before? UCLA comes to Autzen.

Ducks never looked so good to go unbeaten.

So you compare what he has done as a matured rusher today vs what his slot was coming in? You aren't saying he would still be a 5th today as he is now right? :tsk:

Have you ever predicted the ducks wouldn't go unbeaten? I'm sure everyone up here just considers the source with your predictions.

Other than Stanford I think an ugly 1-2 loss USC team making it to the ccg would be a concern for Oregon.

I know most are writing them off in favor of UCLA but Ive watched them every game this year and that defense is beastastic. I'm swinging over to them for the south. Will be tough but I think they will pull it together.

They will eat ducklings for breakfast given the chance.

You know there is some truth to that.

In the past they have gone both ways here. BUt new HC, OC and new season. So jury is out.

I was watching College Football Daily.

Over the last 4 years the Ducks are the most "Upset Proof" team in the country cuz they always dominate teams outside the top 10.

This is where getting over the next hurdle lies. Like u mentioned. Beating those top 10 teams when facing adversity. THey have won a few and lost a few.

Usually comes down to the trenches in those games. The lines at the beginning of the Kelly era usually got eaten up in those games. Now they have got a lil name recognition and are pulling in those top flight lineman on both sides. More experience on the d and o line hopefully will pay dividends vs Stanford and those teams down South.

That is what Washington is working up to. Only difference they have been there several years ago with dominant lines. UW will most likely follow that trend of smoking lesser competition and be way less "upset proof" with that system.

consider the offensive teams they have played. Yes, I know Chuckie is a good QB, but it is Utah State, nonetheless an average offensive team put up 14 points on SC.

We will see how the Trojans do when they face a real offense.

The athletes on offense are no doubt the best in the PAC possibly the country. Fastest and huge play makers.

Every year the Ducks (and every team ever) will have one hiccup and a major test will arise.

Stanford last year, Cal in 2010, USC in 2011, so on. Oregon is usually 50/50 in those games. That is where the offense isn't clicking.

This is where the 2013 Ducks need to prove their worth. I whole heartedly believe they will. With the upgrades at both lines, and a Heisman candidate QB with a full year under his belt.

I feel this is the year they overcome the hiccup.

In order to do that they are going to have to figure something out offensively. The defense can keep them in games but if it comes down to offense having to make a play, i just don't have any confidence that They can get it done. USC may prove me wrong.

He's probably right but doesn't mean Husky tears aren't the sweetest

It's football, not family. I don't know any UW fan that believes they will go 12-0 so losses are expected. On the other hand, any loss by Oregon in contrast would lead to lots of holes in walls and a sharp increase in the local suicide rate. You can't win a tears battle here. I do expect UW to win next week, but I sure won't be crying over a loss. Can you say the same? Didn't think so.

I agree. I thought Kelly was a horrible close game coach. He was inflexible on his play calling.

Helfrich has proven to open the playbook more. Mariota has passed more now than he did under Kelly. This will be great for Oregon because now teams see him as a passing threat as well. Mariota can run, pass, hand it off to DAT, Tyner, Marshall. My God the weapons and playbook is astonishing.

Sorry man, but USC wouldn't score 10 points on Oregon's defense. They scored like 17 against a mid-major? USC has NO chance to win the south and wouldn't be a speed bump to any northern team. They have nothing that resembles a complete team at this point.

UCLA and Arizona are the south's only chances. ASU has been exposed and USC is stick-a-fork-in-them done.

We'll see. When you have a real defense and are 3-1 considering your offensive woes anything is possible.
Teams improve. I think they will.

I agree with you on ASU. They looked suspect vs Wisconsin and revealed all vs Stanford. Game wasnt as close as the score indicates.

Arizona could well be the sleeping giant in the south. They return 17 starters this year and get UCLA at home. Which is good for them because they havent been world beaters on the road with this squad, which will travel to USC.

Can't argue against UCLA being the betters choice, they have a fine thing going on down there right now. However they to have to travel to USC to end the season. I'm betting on that one deciding the south and USC to win it.

Early lines have UW opening 7 point favorites, Oregon -34 over Cal, ASU -6.5 over USC, Oregon State -10 over Colorado, and Stanford -9.5 over WSU.

I think there are some value bets brewing if those lines keep in those ranges.
