So Washington is 20 AP and 23 Coaches.

Oregon bumped to 2 in AP and stayed at 3 in the coaches.

Not that the AP even matters....

Well its a start, I wasn't expecting them to be any higher, they still have a lot to prove.
This break before heading to Chicago sucks, would've liked it between the Cards and the Quakers,

Would rather not have a bye before A&M at this point. O-line needs more game experience.

they are going to win @ College Station this year anyway.

Should get some entertaining games anyways. Week 2 betting lines are so tough to get right.

True, but nothing to gain this week for a PAC!!PAC!!PAC!! chant, any game thats close (outside of WSU/USC) and the Pac looks bad. If Auburn blows and WSU doesn't that could look bad too. Oh well, chearing for your conference is overrated. I wonder if it will die back with the four team play-off.

ASU the equivalent of #28 in the AP poll....with a little help we could see a top 25 matchup in Tempe week 3.

Not that polls mean anything for us right now. Following SACK st we have 4 tough games in a row to prove whether or not we belong in the top 25.

Ya, I don't think anyone can deny that a PAC major upgrade is occurring. Now with UCLA and Washington rejoining the top PAC teams.

These two joining Oregon and Stanford's current success would be nice.

Add that to SC and PAC is looking better all the time.

Now the conference needs OSU to get of their asses and ASU and ZOna to show they can get it done as well.

I understand why your fan base is pumped over the win, but BSU was cleary over rated and ranked way too high. Let's see what else Washington can do.

Gotta feeling the Cougs are gonna give the Trojans a game.
This is and early game that could shock some people, even if they dont pull the upset off, there gonna be a thorn in someones side this season...

:wtf2: He said its a start and didn't expect to be any higher. No UW fan I'm aware of thinks they are world beaters because they beat down Boise. NONE of us will buy into it until we see them DRASTICALLY improve on the road.

Still, what UW did was impressive enough to warrant a nod in the latter half of the top 25. Worst beating Boise has had since Petersen has been their HC. First time their offense has been denied a TD since '97. Only time will tell if Boise was entering a down year that is well below their standards or UW was just really that good. My best guess is it is somewhere between.

I don't think you have seen any UW poster overreact to the point where people need to put us back in our place though. It was one game and we know it. With the stretch of Arizona, @Stanford, Oregon, @Arizona State all in a row we will learn everything we need to about that team. Win 3 of those 4 and they should be ranked. Lose 3 of them and they shouldn't be a top 40 team. Lose 2 and they shouldn't be in the rankings until late season if they can keep from losing any they shouldn't.

Well I said it was the eye test that was the issue man. I did watch about maybe 2/3 of that game and the parts I watched were very much less than impressive by your defense. What I saw was a totally inept offense that shot itself in the foot over and over, not a dominating more athletic unit that took them out. Again, just my opinion and I have no problem with you and your fans seeing it differently. We will see this week how they do against a better offense.

I did notice that neither of you have been defending the claims that there are serious worries with that offense though. Guess we can all agree on that? :suds:

Personally I'll be pulling for the pirate ship to invade and take your boys to the woodshed.

Agree about the concerns for the offense. Neither qb was able to seperate themselves from the other and it wasn't because they both played great. As I've said before, I think Kiffin needs to do like Pete Carroll when he had Leinart/Cassell and just go with his gut and pick one.

I think it took the o-line too long to get in sync and establish the run game. Whether that was because the top 2 running backs were out or problems with the o-line (or both) remains to be seen. It was encouraging that even with back ups and the late establishing of the run we rushed for around 200 yards!!

Establishing the run is going to be important while sorting out the qb situation!!

Indeed.

I've even went ahead and called us overrated at 20! I want to see how well we do on the road against a team we should handle easily. If we manage to thump Illinois I will buy into a top 20 ranking. We've struggled on the road and to a lesser degree vs teams we should smack around. If Sark deals with those 2 issues in a couple of weeks at Illinois I'll luv him long time!!!

...and while I called us overrated at 20, I firmly believe they are top 25 team and I'm happy for Sark and the kids to be all the way at 20th. Just keep on earning it!

Anyone talking about putting us back in our place forget where our place is. They are nothing but stewards, scared stewards at that. :laugh3:

Iron, I don't put much stock in any of the polls as it is and none of them are worth a piss at all until half way through the season. I wasn't bothered either way if UW found their way in this week or not. That stretch of UA, trees, zeros, and forks will sort out where their rankings should be.

All I really want is to see some competitive games in the new facility and see the team moving forward and taking steps toward reclaiming the Pac. Polls matter not in that goal.
