I'll try the pick-em...
  • ASU
  • Oregon
  • Hawaii
  • UNLV
  • San Jose St
  • Weber St
  • Portland St
  • Central Ark
  • WSU with a final score WSU 24, USC 31 for a total 55 points
Basing my picks on point spreads that I think are too high in most cases. Straight up, I would pick Pac 12 all the way.

Sorry about the game while you guys have a lot of talent I think its time to switch to a new offense the offense that Oregon,Uofa, and ASU are running this will help with QB commits and I do think its time for a new QB.

I dont see Washington State beating USC but I do feel they are overrated. And will be exposed once they play Arizona State or any other above average team in the Pac 12.

It's cupcake week for the PAC, but very cool we get a PAC matchup in prime time this early in the season. Considering how the two teams are heading into this, it could be a very interesting game.

Good call making it the point total breaker for pickum.

Sure, beating USC is an outside chance and I will probably fail on my prediction, but USC has been upset by lower rebuilding teams at home before (UW '11) and they were a better team then IMO. I hate the two QB thing for any team. If you have 2 you don't have any. None are doing well enough to force the issue. That's a big problem. USC had problems with Hawaii and while Halliday isn't going to be all conf for the year he is miles ahead of Hawaii's QB. That guy was turrble and USC still let them hang around.

WSU is always a danger to beat someone above them and then go back to the cellar the next week. Always been how they do. I think after how they played last week they will double down on what the coaches are teaching and buy in more while USC has to be still a bit uncertain. Add it all up and if USC isn't much tighter than last game they could lose this one.

I honestly think USC is in real trouble this year and it starts at QB. Having their stud RB out doesn't help either. Defense can't stop one of the worst QB's I've seen in a while? Kid threw for over 200 yards and most of the stops were because he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn? Air raid will be trouble for them IMO.

The Usc defense couldnt stop him? What exactly do you call 7 sacks/4 picks and forcing him to throw 16-41 then? I really dont see what else a defense could do to stop a qb...not to mention, their only td came in garbage time on a hail mary with like 30 sec left on the clock.

qb wasn't the problem. Mannion put up good numbers. But ya, based off last year they needed a better qb. Just don't think Vaz is the answer.

Got to werk with what ya got.

That Hawaii QB was as bad as I have seen and they still allowed him to get 200y passing. The rest of the stats you site are correct, however the vast majority were caused by how bad he was, not the stellar play of your defense. That kid couldn't hit wide open people all night. You can pull up any stat you like, but SC's defense did NOT pass the eye test to me AT ALL. Just my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

I just think if you allow over 200 yards in the air to that tard, what is a real passing team going to do to them? Add in the fact that SC has no QB themselves and the early part of this season is ripe for bumps in the road.

I did clearly say I'm probably wrong in calling for the upset, but if there was a case to be made for it this is the week it could happen. WSU always seems to find a way to beat a team they have no business beating and I'm going out on a limb and calling for it this week mostly because of just how BAD I think SC is (again).

Please, there were 2 or 3 Duck posters who were claiming that you guys were better off in the Fiesta Bowl than the Rose Bowl last season!!

Gotcha. Read it wrong. Only halfway through my 1st cup of coffee...

I think nobody in their right minds would want a freaking Fiesta trophy over THE Grandaddy trophy.

But the last two Fiesta Bowls the opponent was a higher ranked team.

2011: Stanford got Oky State @ #3 in Rose and Oregon got a VERY good Wisky team in Fiesta but they had 2 losses

2012: Oregon got Highly ranked K State a way better opponent than Stanford got in the Rose in 5 loss Wisky.

I think the argument was it worked out nice for the Ducks getting K State.

But ya, woulda rather had the Rose and conference trophy obviously.

We must have been watching different games. In the game I watched, not only did USC sack him 7 times and intercept 4 passes, the defense was in his face all game long and he was constantly being hit, even when he got passes off. The announcers were commenting on that all game long!!

Also, there's more to the game than stats. Of those 200 passing yards, 60 came on 1 play. The 60 yard touchdown pass with 30 seconds left in the game when the scrubs were in.

Minus that pass it's more like 140 yards passing, add in the 22 rushing yards that Hawai'i got and it was a pretty good showing by the defense.

Sorry, didn't mean to attempt to rustle your jimmies before your daily caffeine intake (only had a half a pot of coffee so far myself).

I agree that the Ducks got a better opponent in the Fiesta, but it's always better to win the conference, imo!!

Well I said it was the eye test that was the issue man. I did watch about maybe 2/3 of that game and the parts I watched were very much less than impressive by your defense. What I saw was a totally inept offense that shot itself in the foot over and over, not a dominating more athletic unit that took them out. Again, just my opinion and I have no problem with you and your fans seeing it differently. We will see this week how they do against a better offense.

I did notice that neither of you have been defending the claims that there are serious worries with that offense though. Guess we can all agree on that? :suds:

Personally I'll be pulling for the pirate ship to invade and take your boys to the woodshed.
