Oregon playing Nicholls State is about as telling as Stanford scrimmaging against itself in practice while UW and UCLA beat up on above average mid majors and looked very good doing so. I think the rankings were justified. We won't know anything about ASU until week 3 and Stanford and Oregon will probably be viewed as interchangeable until they play each other.

Miller is one of the few ESPN writers who doesn't bow down to the SEC, he's actually called out their scheduling tactics numerous times.

Stanford gets the benefit of the doubt because they are the RB champs and return most of the team. Ducks only proved this week they can beat up on a high school team.
If Stanford struggles in their opener I'm sure Oregon will leap them. Unless of course Ducks play meh against Virginia as well.

As for ASU, different scenario. They got more to prove entering this season. UCLA and UW jumping them with their performances is fine for this week. UW especially because we beat a ranked opponent.
This weekend, ASU plays a weak saucer, but if both ball against their big OOC games on Sept 14th against quality opponents who remain ranked, UW could get jumped. Happens.

Pretty much yes. The quote gives a refresher on what you are responding too, and people don't have to go searching for the original. It's very useful IMO.
