We're very close to having 10 players with 10+ goals or 6 players with 20+ goals. However you'd like to look at it, that's a ton of scoring depth.

I hope the Jackets lose to the Isles today. Then they'd be about done...lol Game is scoreless midway through the first.

Boys, we need to get this fucking thread moving. It'd be a shame if the Flyers won the Cup this season and we only had 2K posts on a 10K thread... :L

Isles up 1-0 on Columbus.

Giroux should be considered for the Hart and Berube for the Jack Adams. Thoughts?

Islanders up 2-0 on the CBJ through two periods. The Jackets are potentially blowing their whole season in this one.

I don't think Columbus, Washington or anyone below them can catch us right now in the standings, which pretty much assures us of at least the third seed. If the Rangers stumble tonight or we beat them wednesday, they will be about done with trying to catch us as well. Just not enough games left for them unless they win out.

Either way, I expect the Rangers to go down tomorrow night. They're playing well, but we've been the hotter team this month...and against tougher competition too.

I don't know what it is about Ray Emery, but whenever he gets the start for us, it seems like we're either just barely able to win, losing a tight contest or getting throttled. We never fucking win convincingly when he starts.

I just went back through his games and confirmed this. In the 24 games in which Emery has played, we've won by more than two goals just twice. Those were 4-1 decisions against mighty Buffalo and Calgary...lol

I'm sorry, but the time to ride Mason is NOW. We don't need Emery again until April 6th against Buffalo and then the 12th or the 13th. He should play twice more this season and that's it.

to be fair, we probably don't have many wins by more than two goals with mase in net either. the flyers in general haven't been blowing anybody out this year

They play a whole lot better in front of Mase though and that's a big difference - and besides, in the NHL these days, most games come down to a goal especially with how good so many teams are, so if you think you're going to blow out teams every night that won't happen - even the Bruins during the streak didn't blow teams out a ton - hard to do that in this league

I'm more than willing to be fair.

Mason has played in 54 games. We won by more than two goals in eleven of them. That is just over 20% of the time.

The percentage for Emery is just over 8%.

That's a massive difference.

It's not entirely the fault of Emery, even though his stats are far worse. I'd be willing to bet that we give Mason way more goal support, which in turn will help you stay comfy in net and stop more pucks.

All you need to see is this stat:

Emery: 8-10-1

Mason: 30-16-6

One guy is winning often and the other is not. We need to lean on Mason when it is not a back to back situation. He can handle the load.

dont get me wrong, i'd rather them play mase. and i'm ready to ride mase, i wasn't a few weeks ago, but i am now. we talked about being surprised he started last night. i just don't think the discrepancy is as big as it's made out to be on here sometimes. the flyers played damn well in the hawks game, and emery started that one.

it's just the ebbs and flows of the season IMO.

Thank you. I should get way more responses like this. It may be the first of it's kind however. :laugh3:
