Do you think Canada gives a flying fuck that they're going to have three first liners playing fourth line? Absolutely not, because in tournaments you need all the skill you can get - it's easier to teach skilled players how to play specific roles, than it is to teach role players how to score - skill can't be taught
I'm tired of Team USA's stupid thinking for how to make a roster - Bobby Ryan, Kyle Okposo and Keith Yandle should have made it over Blake Wheeler, Max Pacioretty and Cam Fowler - there's no way on earth you can tell me those last three are better than the first three, I'd bet my house on that
David Poile is overrated - he's never gotten a good scorer for that Preds team, he shouldn't be the GM for an Olympic team - he's got too many bad ideas and makes this team too Predators-y - I can't believe a guy like Dean Lombardi who has a Cup, isn't the GM while David Poile, a guy who has never gotten past the second round of the playoffs, is the GM - makes no sense - Dean Lombardi is the best there is, imo - what he's done for the Kings organization to make them champions and have them in major contention every year shouldn't make this a debate for who the GM should be on Team USA
Team USA is going to get shellacked with this team
nope, but they are a completely different team. canada has the horses to line up first line scorers 4 lines deep, and be better than everyone at every position. the US has to play more match up hockey than canada does because canada is a better hockey team. outside of goaltending, they are more talented and more skilled at every single roster spot. for the US to beat teams like canada and sweden, they will need to have guys that can shut down opponents.
and i disagree with saying you can teach guys to play different roles. it's a 7 game tournament. you don't waste any of those games teaching a scoring forward how to play defense. if you want someone to play defense, you take someone who plays sound defense.
yandle is not a good defender. he's a good puck mover, and a good PP guy. on defense he's weak. cam fowler is a better defender than keith yandle. period. same probably goes for the other two, although i dont like the wheeler pick. i probably would've had ryan instead of wheeler.
edit: the US will try to shut down canada's top two lines with shut down 3rd and 4th lines.. and then hope their 1st and 2nd line can outscore canada's 3rd and 4th line. and talent-wise, that's about where the US team stacks up. their 1st line is the level of canada's 3rd line offensively.
US is not going to be able to shut down Canada's offense, and Canada's defense is very strong too so they will get involved in the play as well and that will make it really difficult for the US
According to this article me thinks Gee is a pretty good player the most intriguing stat in this whole article for me was that Gee has more hits than Richards.
Yep, as long as they keep him off of the golf course... ;-)
Hey Cobie: Where is Simmonds in your pictures profile and stats underneath post? He is leading the team in scoring is he not?
Rasmus Ristolainen with the OT winner to give Finland the gold medal - unfortunately it was Robert Hagg that Risto walked by for the winner
Did anyone notice when Gee scored the empty net goal and someone slapped him a high five Gee threw his glove off like he was hurt. I hope his wrist isnt sore like it was the first few weeks of the season.
i think it was just a limp wristed high five that knocked his glove off haha.. 4706 and i were talking about it, i want a gif of it
