G is suddenly tied for 20th in scoring with 9 other players and his +/- is back to even. I could see him getting into the top ten in short order with the way he is playing at the moment. This six game road trip will be a test given that we're 6-9-4 on the road and that last trip didn't go so well. I think we're up for the challenge though.

It seem as he goes we go which is no suprise if mason can play like he did last game and our forward lines can keep scoring along with the defense chipping in offensively we will be fine

I suppose that's what happens when you get a job where you actually do stuff.

And live in North Carolina where people aren't crazy (california) and don't mind hanging out without extasy or weed present.

You think Gee makes the Canadian olympic team?

Bryz is starting tomorrow. If Giroux doesn't light him up I'm going to be really disappointed.

I kind of hope he gets left off, if only for the sake of our Flyers and the stretch run, but he should make it. I think it's likely that he'll get in ahead of an older vet like Thornton, a slumping player like Couture, a guy padding the statsheet because he plays with Crosby (Kunitz) or via an injury to someone else ahead of him. Obviously, in my opinion, they'd be crazy not to take him. G has 12 points and is a +10 over just his last six games and a seven game point streak. Not even Crosby or Getzlaf are that hot right now. Besides, I think he can play wing if necessary, he's young, an ultra competitive leader and he's responsible defensively (especially as of late). These intangibles and the fact that he's white hot get him in.

But we have one or more games in hand on all of them, plus own the second highest ROW (tied with NYR) in the division at 16. Either way, aside from maybe Columbus, these teams are all struggling to keep pace with us right now.

I thought i heard Taveras was another player on the bubble.

personally i'd take tavares over giroux.. i think he's the better player. if giroux's defensive game hadn't dropped off big time this season, i'd take him, but he's been less than stellar defensively this season. offensively he's been great lately though.

canada is so stacked. its not even fair that they can consider not including players of giroux/tavares caliber. they'd be the top two Cs on team USA, easily.

With the way things have played out, the Flyers are in an alright spot. The wild card teams are both tied with 5 more points than us, but we have 2 games on the Wings and 3 on Toronto. As far as the division goes, we have two games in hand to hopefully distance us from the Rangers and Devils, with whom we are tied.

Basically, we aren't guaranteed a playoff spot by any stretch of the imagination, but we don't need to hope other teams get hurt either; we just need to play our hockey and win games and everything else will take care of itself.
