Not everyone can win a Superb Owl.

You may have to settle for an ordinary owl.

Some that should be considered but aren't listed:

2013 Broncos
2001 Rams
1998 Vikings
1967 Raiders

There are better teams in general, that didn't win it
Yeah...I don't think you understand the article. This is the best teams for each franchise that didn't win it. Ravens 2008 was ranked 23rd out of 32 so obviously the article understands that the team wasn't great, but it would be the best Ravens team that didn't win it.

good list

1976 pats would have won a SB if not for sugar bears phantom roughing call. that team was a steamroller.

lol

the 76 pats had almost 3,000 yards rushing.

3 guys with 700+ yards
grogans 12 TD's on the ground
I wasn't alive, so I only hear stories about that team. My wife's grandfather, who has since passed, lived in Foxboro and had season tickets from the inaugural season until the late 80s. He loved that team. His favorite all time he always said. Then he would mumble "fucking Ben Dreith"

The 1978 team still holds the record for most rushing yards by a team post-merger.

They chose the wrong team for Philly.

It's either the Dick Vermeil team that lost to the Raiders in the 1981 Super Bowl, or the 2002 Eagles that went 12-4 and lost to Gruden's Tampa Bay in the NFC title game. I think the latter personally.

The 2001 Eagles, the team they chose, were young and McNabb was just starting out. The teams the following few years were better.

Yeah that 2002 team was 4th in offense and 2nd in defense, scoring-wise. Should have been them.

I am not even basing it on stats, though I am sure some stats can be gathered to support my point. I am basing it on watching all these teams over the years. That one was the most complete, though still had some key flaws that Gruden exposed well, and Reid covered up poorly. The big thing that team had that people underrate is an excellent veteran special teams unit, with Sean Landeta punting, David Akers kicking, Ike Reese as special teams captain and Brian Mitchell as the returner. The were only good on offense, but great on defense and special teams.

Before understanding the article, my first thought was the 1998 Vikings. IMO the bedt team since ive been watching football to not make the Superbowl, much less win it. So for that team to not even be listed as the best Vikings team, that 1969 team must have been truly special. Or this guy just looked at stats sheets and not actual football.

Back then it comes down to the understanding of whether the AFL or NFL was stronger. The Vikings were clearly the best team in the NFL that season but the AFL might have been stronger which as far as I can tell wasnt the perception at the time. Vikings were 12 point favorites over the Chiefs and the Chiefs won 23-7.

Basically stats are meaningless without other great teams to compare them to.

Its actually taking a lot of mental strain to picture the Chiefs and Vikings in a Super Bowl.
