While I agree that is humorous, I did a similar review a few months back. I think I "recommended" Blended while still giving it a 3/10.

Saw Southpaw with my son today.

It was really good.

It's nice to have a boxing movie about a kid from an orphanage with a hero he actually seems like he could have grown up in an orphanage. Gyllenhaal was great, and not just the physical transformation. The emotional and cognitive portrayal was much better.

But honestly, is it that hard to make a boxing movie that somewhat resembles boxing? I don't care how good your chin is...if you don't put your hands up and a Light Heavyweight champ punches you at full strength, you will go "night-night" by the end of the first round. The fight at the start of the movie would literally have killed him. Also, the fact that the last fight featured two knockdowns and a point deduction yet the scorecards all only had 11 or 12 total points taken away? Really? That's like having a football game with a final score of 24-1.

Solid movie, but too predictable in certain moments.

I also saw Trainwreck and Ant-Man recently. Ant-Man was my favorite Marvel movie since the first Iron Man. Very good. I didn't quite get the point of Trainwreck. They built it up as a woman who was afraid of commitment, but she seems content with a long-term relationship with the doctor almost immediately. There wasn't really any tension in their relationship most of the time, and the attempts to change it late in the movie seemed dull and artificial. I'm not saying it was unenjoyable, but it just seemed to be two characters who genuinely liked each other from the get-go. That's fine with the right dialogue (and Trainwreck had it at times), but it doesn't exactly equal an interesting plot.

Watched Fury yesterday. Pretty good war/action flic, but nothing special. Seemed a bit predictable that the green horn named Norman would be ...................................well never mind, don't wanna spoil it for the folks who haven't seen it yet.

6/10

Also watched The Divergent Series, Insurgents. Saw the 1st episode with the crazy blond and decided to rent it yesterday since I'm laid up for a few days. Both were OK.

The Thin Red line. Not my favorite war movie. But the sequence of Nick Nolte screaming over the radio to "take that hill!" is about as good as it gets to the real shit.

That's the only movie I ever walked out of at a theater.

Movie 43. This movie is horrible. Overall, I give it 1/10. But if you stop watching after the first story, I give it a 9/10. Fucking hilarious! Kate Winslet and Hugh Jackman. I will not spoil it for you.

Terminator: Genisys

Pretty entertaining. But I didn't like the casting as much, except for Emilia Clarke. Same concepts and the same outcome. No matter what they do, skynet always has a failsafe and is never destroyed lol. This story is starting to get really old, but its always worth watching for the action and cgi/fx.

So a buddy calls and wants to go see "The Man From UNCLE". Wasn't pumped about it but we went.
Acting was good, Story was terrible. We were able to stand it for about an hour and left. 4/10

Walked into "Straight Out of Compton" and have to say I really liked it. Didn't see the first 15mins, but didn't matter, much better than expected and better than the other movie. 7/10.

Weird, huh!!

"Edge of Tomorrow"
Caught it on HBO. Never saw it in the theaters.
Have to say I liked it. Lots of action of course, didn't get dull, much better than I had expected.
Like a military, save the earth, futuristic, Groundhog Day.

Saw Dirty Harry and Magnum Force. Dirty Harry was more entertaining but Magnum Force was more compelling almost like an old school Marvel Civil War plot line.
