Just finished Dead Pool. I had no expectations one way or the other. It was corny, funny, action packed and slightly gory.

Never seen Princess. Spirited Away is very similar in the allegorical nature of the two stories, and the fairy-tale structure (completing tasks to do away with the big-bad.)

Captain Vidal is the big bad wolf. He must be resisted, because that's what good people do. They resist evil.

I cribbed the Little Red reference from this guy: who actually wrote his master's thesis on the movie. Heh.

Interesting. I do feel that the movie is supposed to be a kids movie and that we've just outgrown scaring our children with dark fairy tales. I think I would've liked it more as a kid even if I didn't fully understand it.

Just watched London Has Fallen. Typical action movie. Takes about 20 minutes or so to get started but then picks up and gets good. The hour and a half it took to watch it flew by in no time.

I didn't know it was an xmen movie. It had too many gay references, but other than that, like you I enjoyed it.

One of the stranger movies I've ever seen. Fairly amusing, but weird af. It ends with a WTF thud. The whole movie is a big WTF.

I'll give it a 4/10. A few amusing moments with Will Smith and Margot Robbie, but that's about it. Jared Leto's Joker was a bit underwhelming. I think there are only so many variations on that character that actors/writers/directors can attempt.

That's around what I'd give London Has Fallen. I still found it funny that

when Angela Bassett's character died after getting shrapnel through her chest, not a single hair was out of place. Also towards the end when they had the big explosion, none of the hundreds of guys that got shot were anywhere to be seen.

I also liked 13 Hours but I didn't get as invested in the main characters as I was with American Sniper.

I watched John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars earlier. Definitely not one of his better movies. I believe that was the last movie that he did that got a theatrical release. I'd say maybe 5/10.

I watch many a film, I've been focused on posting to the Horror thread, one of the recent movies I watched that I enjoyed was The Nice Guys, cat that was responsible for the Monster Squad, Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.. Yeah, a lot to like, I guess he only can deliver every 7 years or so, but I've enjoyed the majority of his work.
