Star Trek Beyond

Entertaining, but completely forgettable. IMHO, the franchise is dead.

Yeah, Star Trek hasn't been big in awhile. Doctor Who really is the millennial sci fi show as far as I can tell.

SPY. Pretty terrible. 3/10. Laughed a few times, the rest was predictable and Melissa McCarthy mouthing off isn't as funny as it used to be. Jason Statham was pretty hilarious.

I actually kinda enjoyed Spy. Not really because it was a good movie, but because it was better than I expected.

And yes. Statham was hilarious.

Saw both Star Trek and Suicide Squad over the last few weeks.

Went into Trek with low expectations, walked out thinking it was a decent film. Thought the first one was better, this one was probably about a draw with the second. I've said this before but these new films really don't feel like Star Trek even if they aren't bad movies. Hoping the new CBS series gets it back to its roots.

Mentioned in the other thread that Suicide Squad was pretty mediocre.

Is it going to be on TV? Last I heard (and I have not been following it closely) it was going to just be a web-series.

I've heard that it will premiere on CBS and then move to CBS All Access which is a subscription service.

I watched the first half of Glengarry Glen Ross. Aside from the ball-busting speech by Alec Baldwin's character in the beginning, I haven't seen anything yet that would characterize this as a "good" movie.

I was never a huge fan either. If you like theater, I think you will like this movie. It is just a play done on film.

I've already got "Slap Shot" on the brain from the other thread and this reminded me that I love the story of how David Mamet courted Lindsay Crouse, even if the way it played out in real life was probably a little creepier than the idea.

Suicide Squad - 7/10

My only complaints are the editing & the ending. I liked SS more than BvS & Apocalypse.

6.5/10

Saw the trailer the last time we were at the theatre and it looked like another funny animated film for the kids. As it turns out the trailer was the best part of the film. It was ok, but nothing special or original or even worth a second viewing once it comes out on dvd or netflix or whatever. When your kids ask about this one, just say NO.

ScarFace. Decided to finally watch it. Not because I was saying I would never watched it, just never got around to it. I don't see what the hype was all about with this movie. It was an ok movie, but there wasn't much to it. Some action in the beginning and then some action in the end, nothing really in between.

I watch many a film, I've been focused on posting to the Horror thread, one of the recent movies I watched that I enjoyed was The Nice Guys, cat that was responsible for the Monster Squad, Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.. Yeah, a lot to like, I guess he only can deliver every 7 years or so, but I've enjoyed the majority of his work.

I liked it, but the guys were morons. Just to stupid to be PIs.

The fam bought me Deadpool on bluray for dad's day and I finally watched it.
I was disappointed, thought it would have more big laughs and the plot was completely predictable. Also needed less nude Ryan whatsisface and more nude chicks.
5/10
I did like the nod to Ferris Bueller after the credits...

Fox Tango Charlie. Pretty good. A good view on Afghanistan when it was the forgotten war and how female correspondents had to navigate such a rough place.

My only criticism is that while the character played by Margot Robbie talked a lot about "fvcking" there were no follow through. Very disappointing.
