I liked Winters Bone but it's certainly isn't high octane or action packed.
I mean it is on me though, the cover said it was a thriller so I expected more excitement and tense situations. Only one scene I found truly tense at the end, and it was more shock value than tense. I heard how great it was and expected something different than what this film was.

Watch Spanglish. Sadler is actually a decent actor when he wants to be.

I have also heard great things about Punch Drunk Love, but I actually have never seen it.
I like it better than Spanglish, but I liked both. Punch Drunk Love has Luis Guzman in it, how bad could it be? When he tries and/or the material merits it he is a pretty good actor. Funny People wasn't great but I liked him in it.
The normal Sandler movies \ Happy Madison productions have been virtually unwatchable for 15 years or so.

Yeah, calling Winter's Bone a thriller is not quite right. I think it is a fantastic movie and the guy who played Teardrop is an amazing actor, but it's not really an exciting movie.

Watched Sinister 2 with my daughter, got it for Father's Day.
I liked the first one and this was entertaining enough, but it was not a very strong movie. A few decent scares and creepy scenes, but only 4/10 overall.

Saw Love and Mercy.

Man Jon Cusak got old. I love movies that explore the lives of famous musicians and this one was simple enough to work. The movie is very blunt about symbolism and gives you an appreciation for the main character and an antogonist you really want to punch in the face. I love the music and the score but it's not the most noteworthy acting.

Just watched Zoolander 2. Okay for a rental but I didn't think it was as funny as the first one. 5.5/10

The Criminal (2016)

Interesting story. But I thought it was predictable and was hoping for more action. Kind of disappointed, but it was mild entertainment.

6/10

The last movie I saw was "The State of Jones"..... It was a long and boring movie.

I also could see Goodman drugging her. I really liked the movie, but I didn't understand what they were going for with Goodman. His evilness was undercut by him actually being right and not crazy. And then there's the theory that the other guy was evil (the one that Goodman caps). That was pretty interesting.

Does anyone have any movies similar to 10 Cloverfield Lane? The closed-door mystery was kind of like The Thing or even Tarantino's Hateful Eight.
I saw the Hateful Eight.... I give it 2 stars.

Went to see 'The Purge III,' these flicks are a guilty pleasure of mine. Low budget, and kinda' silly, and the societal commentary is about an inch deep, but still good fun.

Probably a 6.5 if I'm being realistic, but I dig them at a 7 or 8 level.

Except that was never going to make logical sense as soon as we saw the older woman die at the entry door.
I was thinking there could have been some kind of acid-trap that the lady got caught up in. Until, of course...

Yea...
