SPOILER

Just watched the new Star Wars and I nearly cried when Han Solo died. Not because I like Han Solo so much (although he is awesome) but because Chewbacca and him were bros for life and now Chewbacca ain't got nothin..

Not to mention that Leia totally dissed him when they got back to the base. She hardly acknowledged him and instead embraced this chick she hardly knew.

Men at Work... I grew up surfing so this, Endless Summer 2, Point break, Big Wednesday, North Shore, etc were my go to movies.

Anyways a Charlie Sheen/Emilio Estevez flick. Had Keith David as a psycho vietnam vet in the role he always gets. And he had just about all the great lines...

Rentacops... I hate rentacops too!
Looks like somebody threw away a perfectly good white boy!
The commie bastard gets no food!

Still pretty good for a few nostalgic laughs, held up better than I thought it would, 6.5/10.

Saw Dead Man (1995 or 1996) with Johnny Depp

Its one of those movies thats made for stoned college kids. Lots of symbolism and foreshadowing and some really good lines of dialogue but also about an hour of monotony. Such is life.

Listening to the Neil Young riffs is cool for the first half an hour but by the final act they seem to resemble torture. The overall vibe of the movie seems like a slow, serious version of Cannibal the musical meets some isolated situational scenes straight out of something like Sin City but less stupid.

Its a very deep movie and a very sad commentary on our lives. Its also not very entertaining.

I'd give it a B

I kind of liked it. Especially the Young riffs....

Must be cause I'm a stoned adult....

For the record I did not like Sin City.

I'm not a huge Sin City fan, either. It doesn't really compare to Sin City in any other way except how they cut in and out of the action as Depp....well, usually loses consciousness and there is usually a new situation he wakes to.

I usually enjoy minimalist soundtracks and I enjoyed the Young riffs for awhile but hearing the same ones for 2 hours was a bit much.

I believe every character Blake meets is left with disappointment and destruction. The whole thing comes off as very negative commentary on society and progress as we all toil in aimless directions being manipulated like puppets.

Its unique in some regards with how intentionally unsatisfying it is. I'm glad I saw it but its an endlessly depressing movie on close examination.

I watched the new Vacation movie. I was pleasantly surprised, probably because I did not expect too much. I thought it was funny at times.

Boy did Chevy get fat.

Yeah, it was good for a few laughs.

Agreed, anyway Neighbors 2 is basically the same as the first.

I was very underwhelmed with Neighbors and the sequel looked like the exact same movie like you said except with a sorority this time. And judging from the box office and word of mouth, I'll definitely skip it.

Bound (1996) with Gina Gershon & Jennifer Tilly. This is a good, intense movie that takes place over a short period of time...Unique for having a lesbian as the heroine, or better described as an anti-heroine...Directed and written by the former Wachowski Brothers. 8/10

They both went through the change... So now I guess they are now the Wachowski sisters.
I thought it was just one of them that did the sex change. :noidea:

Extraordinary Tales (on Netflix)

It is Edgar Allen Poe stories in animated format, pretty well done. I love Poe's work so if you enjoy his writing as well it is worth a watch. Included is The Fall of the House of Usher, The Tell Tale Heart, The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar, The Pit and the Pendulum, and The Masque of the Red Death.
