Watched 10 Cloverfield Lane last night.

Quite possibly the worst ending to a movie of all-time. Am still annoyed by it. I won't spoil it, other than to say it was fucking retarded.

And I really didn't mind the rest of the show, but the ending....was awful.

I got around to Frost/Nixon. If you're into the subject matter, it's just about a perfect movie.

Earlier today, watched Enter the Dragon which my Dad had taken me to see in 1973. Best martial arts movie ever? Then watched Joe Kidd. And who starred in both movies and did a good job in both? John Saxon, who I submit doesn't get enuf' credit as an actor.

10 Cloverfield Lane

7.5/10

I liked it, but the ending was ridiculous. I like the idea of it, but the ending to the ending was so annoyingly ridiculous.

I mean, she took down a living spaceship the size of Rhode Island, with a fucking Molotov cocktail up its butthole. I like it all, even the idea that is was ETs, but how she overcame that was retarded.

I can't say that it's bad, but I feel like I saw this movie 100 times before

Krampus - Pretty much what I expected. Was entertaining enough but nothing I really have a desire to watch again. 6.5-7/10

Woodlawn - I really enjoyed it. Although I've been enjoying a lot more of the Christian based films lately. 8/10

I hated the ending too, but for a different reason. I would have liked Goodman to have been a fucking crazy psychopath, and have had everything and everyone be fine. The resolution and explanation of Michelle's character was never given

Saw Zootopia.

It seems like its easy to give a kids movie a pass if it comes with a good message but this movie is a mess. Its profound in the same way that a pot smoker talking about 'deep stuff' and is full of contradictions and just sort of pushes you through the movie so quickly that they hope no one notices how absurd the whole thing really is.

Failure, structure and second chances are part of life. This movie continues the long line of magical, awesome, do everything protagonists that will attempt to turn our kids into narcissists if they could actually make out what the movie is actually trying to say. Its funny at parts but you have to wonder how much staying power this movie will have without magic, romance, memorable sidekicks or musical sequences. Ripping off the best part of Training Day for no reason was pretty tacky and probably should've been saved for the ending so it had more impact. Having commentary on animals wearing clothes in an anthropomorphic movie seems really awkward, too. The 2 main characters seem to do the odd couple thing well enough and its a good movie to show the negative aspects of bullying but....it sucks.

Standoff (2015)

Thomas Jane & Lawrence Fishburn put on some pretty strong performances for such a weak story. Not the most thrilling movie ever made, but it was entertaining. Was hoping for more excitement but I was happy with it overall.

Saw Black Sea on HBO a couple days ago. Jude Law, submarine movie.

It held my interest, but nothing to write home about...

Except that was never going to make logical sense as soon as we saw the older woman die at the entry door.

Goodman could have poured the acid on her. It would have made sense

No because we saw her die on-screen. No Goodman in sight.
I'm just saying, if Goodman was truly a crazy and sadistic fuck, he could have poured the acid on her, told her to go crazy and beg to come in, or else he'd give her a slow death. I would have liked that more

I see your point about wanting a different ending. But as soon as we saw that woman die (acid burns instantly), you could check off the 'Goodman is making it all up' ending. So they'd have to have done it differently.

I also could see Goodman drugging her. I really liked the movie, but I didn't understand what they were going for with Goodman. His evilness was undercut by him actually being right and not crazy. And then there's the theory that the other guy was evil (the one that Goodman caps). That was pretty interesting.

Does anyone have any movies similar to 10 Cloverfield Lane? The closed-door mystery was kind of like The Thing or even Tarantino's Hateful Eight.

Smokin' Aces (2006)

Nice acting and good build-up, but the story can be very confusing to follow at times. Solid ending and decent overall, but not something I'd want to watch over and over again.
