Field of Dreams is beautiful man, still manages to bring tears to the eyes. That my friend is the best baseball movie and it totally holds up. Also love Sandlot, 61 is fantastic as well. I want to see The Brox is Burning as well (tv series but still).
So we may have found the problem I had with the Natural but maybe not. I watched a 2 and a half hour directors cut of the film. Again maybe that is why I didn't enjoy it comsidering it's normal run time is closer to an hour and a half, but maybe not. It could definately explain some of it although I don't know if it impacted my overall opinion on it. Hard to go back and watch a movie with a fresh opinion after you watched an extended cut though.HAHAHA. A trap question at the end because if you don't at least get a little teary at the end, you are a communist planted as a spy. Definitely a great film.
like I said. I got into the Natural with stuff like knocking the cover off the ball, smashing the clock tower and getting the slugger out on 3 pitches. Liked the music too.
Bull Durham was funny with lots of baseball "truisms". Susan Sarandon had something of an appeal in that movie too. Some have called it a romantic comedy with baseball.
Good stuff.
Yesterday mine was watching a video of a girl playing with her doll. Whatever works, I guess.
The Valley is getting lazy with their script-writing. I have seen this same movie literally thousands of times...I watched a video like that this weekend but I don't think we're talking about the same thing here.

Saw Saving Private Ryan.
Obviously great. Watching it again really points out that Vin Diesel, Ted Danson and Paul Giamatti had no business in the movie but at least Giamatti is a good actor. Not sure I'd call it the greatest war movie ever but maybe it is when coupled with Band of Brothers and D-Day: Normandy 1944.
I thought the death scene of the medic made the movie...it was brilliant to have the translator walking through clouds of smoke before coming upon the squad trying to save him, reinforcing the otherworldliness of the scene. The tragicomic repetition of "Put some pressure on it!" by Horvath. The desperate cry of, "Oh my God, my liver!!", followed by the quiet, heartbreaking request, "I could use some more morphine." Really good filmmaking there.
I think it's too formulaic to be really great, but it's still a can't miss movie.
Taps
I haven't seen this in YEARS. Still a good movie. I was surprised to see a young Gus Frim in it. I didn't realize he was in it.
8/10
I looked it up when I saw him (more to confirm it was actually him... He was soooo young) and it is like his 4th.First time I remember seeing Gustavo on screen was when that cracker ran over his Jordans while he was trying to get pictures of some brothers on Sal's wall. Was "Taps" his first film credit?
