Watched The Angry Birds movie last night. Wasn't sure I would like it but I thought it was good, but not great. Kids ages 3-10 would really like this movie. I can see them doing a second one.

Field of Dreams is beautiful man, still manages to bring tears to the eyes. That my friend is the best baseball movie and it totally holds up. Also love Sandlot, 61 is fantastic as well. I want to see The Brox is Burning as well (tv series but still).

HAHAHA. A trap question at the end because if you don't at least get a little teary at the end, you are a communist planted as a spy. Definitely a great film.

like I said. I got into the Natural with stuff like knocking the cover off the ball, smashing the clock tower and getting the slugger out on 3 pitches. Liked the music too.

Bull Durham was funny with lots of baseball "truisms". Susan Sarandon had something of an appeal in that movie too. Some have called it a romantic comedy with baseball.

Good stuff.

Watched "The Martian" last night on TV.
First time to see it since the movie theater.

Still have to give it a thumbs up.
Not quite as great as the first time but still a quality watch.

The Sweeney.

Used to love the TV series with John Thaw as Jack Reagan.

This fell a wee bit short but I still didn't mind it.

So we may have found the problem I had with the Natural but maybe not. I watched a 2 and a half hour directors cut of the film. Again maybe that is why I didn't enjoy it comsidering it's normal run time is closer to an hour and a half, but maybe not. It could definately explain some of it although I don't know if it impacted my overall opinion on it. Hard to go back and watch a movie with a fresh opinion after you watched an extended cut though.

Yesterday mine was watching a video of a girl playing with her doll. Whatever works, I guess.

I watched a video like that this weekend but I don't think we're talking about the same thing here.

The Valley is getting lazy with their script-writing. I have seen this same movie literally thousands of times...

We Are Marshall. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I was surprised that McG was actually capable of making a good movie.

Saw Saving Private Ryan.

Obviously great. Watching it again really points out that Vin Diesel, Ted Danson and Paul Giamatti had no business in the movie but at least Giamatti is a good actor. Not sure I'd call it the greatest war movie ever but maybe it is when coupled with Band of Brothers and D-Day: Normandy 1944.

Interesting. I usually like directors cut although they do often contain a lot of extra crap left over from the director. Now I'm curious.

Anyone see the Apocolypse now Redux? Talk about throwing in every thing but the kitchen sink.

I thought the death scene of the medic made the movie...it was brilliant to have the translator walking through clouds of smoke before coming upon the squad trying to save him, reinforcing the otherworldliness of the scene. The tragicomic repetition of "Put some pressure on it!" by Horvath. The desperate cry of, "Oh my God, my liver!!", followed by the quiet, heartbreaking request, "I could use some more morphine." Really good filmmaking there.

I think it's too formulaic to be really great, but it's still a can't miss movie.

Finally got around to Ted 2 and holy shit it is hilarious. I really think this is on of those rare times when the sequel was better than the first. Say what you want about Mark Wahlberg but he did great in this movie acting along side Ted when you consider that when they were filming it, there was nothing there.

The Redemption of Jake "The Snake" Roberts

I could have sworn he died about 5 years ago. Apparently not. He has worked hard to clean himself up, and actually had an appearance on a RAW and was inducted into the WWE HOF (who knew??).

It was an engrossing movie, but it seemed to be more of a propaganda flick about DDP than a movie about Jake.

Yep.. totally gut wrenching scene. Followed by Captain Miller breaking down and then pulling his squad back together by admitting he's a school teacher.. (i.e. symbolizing the everyman American who fought that war)

Just watched The Ladykillers. Underrated movie in my opinion as I really enjoyed it and still as hilarious as I remember.

Taps

I haven't seen this in YEARS. Still a good movie. I was surprised to see a young Gus Frim in it. I didn't realize he was in it.

First time I remember seeing Gustavo on screen was when that cracker ran over his Jordans while he was trying to get pictures of some brothers on Sal's wall. Was "Taps" his first film credit?

I looked it up when I saw him (more to confirm it was actually him... He was soooo young) and it is like his 4th.

Finally got around to watching Concussion.

The NFL power guys are such pricks. IF I didn't like NFL so much I'd dump it...

That was Saturday.

Friday was Gladiator. And Red October. Two solid extra base hits.....
