Idk how someone hasn't seen the Departed yet!!!

That's one of those movies that's mostly universally loved.

Great gangster film. DiCaprio was good in it but Nicholson was just great as was Walhberg. Even Alec Baldwin did a good job.

Just watched Deliverance. Nuff said.

Now I'm thinking I want to keep my eyes open for Southern Comfort. Also has a similar sort of back woods feel...

Saw Southern Comfort many years ago and it stuck in my mind...can't remember that many details, but I did really like it.

I do remember the basic premise, especially that they had guns but only blank ammo. And I recall a good little speech from the one armed coonass.
I have not seen any Deadwood episodes...

Last movie i watched was Chef..........finally got around to viewing it off of Netflix the other night and it was pretty good..........thankfully way better than the RedBox movie i got earlier in week which was Dirty Grandpa

that movie was awful. Way too raunchy and fbombs just for the sake of it. Sometimes fbombs work well, but geez almost every word was f...

I thought Nicholson was sub-par bordering on bad in it especially when compared to Nicholson's older work. Pretty much everyone else was excellent, though.

Hardcore Henry

Just finished watching it. This movie was action packed and full of WTF moments. Good amount of humor in it too so there was never a dull moment. Not really a great movie by any means, but very entertaining.

7/10

I have kind of the same beef with Nicholson these days that I do with Meryl Streep (I know, I know, it's fucking blasphemy)... when I'm watching him play a character I never feel like I'm just watching that character. Instead I almost always feel like I'm watching Jack Nicholson playing that character.

That's not his fault IMO...that's what happens when you become a legendary icon. He's "bigger" than the film.

Or maybe not, who knows. The guy is a living legend tho.

I would argue that you could say the same for Matt Damon and certainly Leo. Those guys have played a ton of memorable parts. Nicholson has played more but its the same thing that most of the leads in that movie had to overcome. Whats odd about Nicholson's character is that I remember not liking him the first time I saw the Departed but the next couple of times I saw it he didn't bother me at all and didn't seem out of place at all. Its mostly about expectations, I guess. I expect a lot out of Nicholson...probably too much. He does have some good scenes in the Departed.

You may be right, but I don't really seem to have that same problem with other "iconic" actors and actresses though.

Pacino too. Probably Johnny Depp as well.
