I kind of liked it. Hardy was great.

Harold and Kumar go to White Castle..... Doogie cracks me up....

Agreed, I was pleasantly surprised by Legend

Hardy was convincing in both parts, and I expected to be entertained, and it met those expectations

Saw Cloverfield Lane, most of the movie was solid, the ending got really silly...Maybe I expected a real strong twist at the end, just silly

Goodman was awesome tho

Hardy was great and I love mob movies. The movie suffered from 3 issues, imo.

1. The actress playing Frances was about 10 years too old to be playing the part. This might seem like a petty complaint but the entire optics of the movie changes if Hardy is courting a teenager. Her youth is essential to her part in the movie and she looked 25-30 and not 16-17.

2. The best scenes in the movie were ones that had both Tom Hardy characters. Its hard to show strong bonds in a movie when there is only one character facing the screen at once. There is something to be said about 2 different characters reacting to each other in real time.

3.
Frances as a POV character was done wrong. Her lines were bad, her narration was bad and her character didn't have enough focus beyond 'my life sucks' and that doesn't make for a good movie. Her narration was the opposite of Morgan Freeman: weak, poor timing and not worth listening to. The line where she says 'I bet you thought I was going to make it because I'm narrating' was all sorts of done wrong. If you're going to do Goodfellas, have her saying that to the screen while she is popping the pills. I just wasn't a fan of how they handled Frances' character

I guess.

But I still liked it. Much more than I liked the one with the Kemp brothers in it from the 90s. I don't generally nit pick with a movie.

Based on expectations

If i went in expecting GoodFellas, Id obviously be massively disappointing, much like i was with Black Mass

With Legend, said to the wife, "Lets give this one a shot"........That said, it was a nice surprise for us

I was never, ever thinking Goodfellas.

Cause I'd already seen that other Krays movie.

The missus never gets a consult when I'm out getting movies.

I bring them home, she wants to watch she can, she want to sit upstairs and watch home rebuilds she can.....

My expectation level going in was around 'Lawless' level as I had no idea what Legend was about at all. Imo Legend was still a little disappointing but it wasn't terrible. I don't regret watching it but I really thought they could've done a lot more with it.

Saw Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.

I was a huge fan of the animated series as a kid but somehow missed this movie. In some ways, I don't like it as much as the animated series because it focused on Bruce Wayne and not the Batman universe. Effectively its on the opposite end of the Batman experience as 'Gotham' but in many ways the movie is a precursor to the Nolan films. You can basically sum up all of the Nolan films just by watching this movie. Probably an essential view for Batman fans.

A-

Dont Dis-agree...Hardy in both roles really sold me, and i probably overlooked some of the things that fell short

Yeah, I thought he was good was the suave twin but really fantastic as the crazy twin because that character was so awkward, crazy and unpredicatable. There is something about a mob guy yelling 'sing' because the bride's mom is dressed in black that makes for good film.

Yeah, the Suave Twin was basically Hardy as Hardy

The Crazy Twin stole the show

Saw Burton's Alice in Wonderland with the gf

Probably more appropriate to say that its "Harry Potter with Curls" than Alice in Wonderland and I can see why Burton fans and book fans weren't too thrilled with the movie but I enjoyed it. It was very well done visually and provided a solid YA Fantasy adventure. The overall tone is very feminist but it serves a purpose and you have the clash between a Machiavellian side and possibly a Confucian side with Alice Potter stuck in the middle. Depp wasn't too over the top and the overall Burton themes weren't dark enough or bizarre enough to limit the enjoyment to the masses.

I'd give it a B+

I am watching San Andreas right now.

O.M.G. What a hot, steaming, pile of Mexican food induced diarrhea.

I was expecting it to be bad (thus my waiting for it to be old news on HBO before actually watching it), but this has exceeded even my lofty expectations.

It's pretty bad.

I'd hump Carla Gugliwhatsherface sexy, and the daughter is smokin' en sech, but ya, it's just awful.

Went see the Revenant in the theater, feel like it was really over hyped but a damn good movie. Leo got his Oscar as a lifetime achievement award and not because of this performance. Ending was stupid, why can't this director make a movie end with a clear cut ending I have no clue. Definitely worth a watch, just not as great as what people said.

Did you see it? I mean it wasn't nearly as ambiguous as Birdman but it wasn't a straightforward ending.

Yep I did.
He wins the revenge battle, and that's it. You're left to decide whether he lives or dies himself. He's still breathing as the credits roll. I guess that could be taken as 'ambiguous,' but I don't see it that way. He was living to get revenge for his son, and he did that. Whether he lives beyond that point is kinda' irrelevant, imo.

I could see where you'd disagree though.
