This seems like a lot of money for someone that will average 11.1 points and 6.2 rebounds for the Jazz next year, on 50.04% FG.

At first, I thought that the answers were so bad, they were intentionally bad.

But I guess not.

Kind of funny. Kudos for him for trying to be engaging to fans. I'm not going to get mad at a voluntary social media bit.

Losing to a Suns team missing two starters? And not just losing, but getting blown out? It would be one thing if it had been close.

Also, I'm losing confidence that Horton-Tucker is a starting player. I had thought he could be.

Not sure why Kessler isn't playing more minutes.

We couldn‘t even stop him from getting 29 points when he was getting his teammates 20+ points passing.

Obviously, some of it is due to injuries aMs we likely would’ve still lost, but by less. There are perfect storms. We traded away a lot of players that Hardy would’ve had. So it is not all his fault, but I wonder if some of the mental toughness issues we have is due to Hardy’s age and experience.

When we are playing well, it’s good we could beat anyone almost but in more games this year than others, it seems like when we are down, we give up. I wonder if his age and experience is a huge factor in that?

I mean, I don’t blame him for taking the job, and obviously did well last year with better players, and he did better than people thought we were going to do. And I think we’re going to have better years in the future. So I’m not trying to “dogpile” on him. I would never turn down a head coach job so that I could get more experience as an assistant. Low head coaching experience it’s expected to result in this, but last year we started off so well that it looks bad now.

Or is it just who we have and who they have? Is it just a bad stretch? Just like last year was a good stretch? just like how you want to see how certain players play when other players come back from injury, are we looking at the same thing for coaching? And the reason why I say that is not that I’m looking for wins, but rather, was he supposed to do better with who we had, even if it was worse than who we could’ve had injury wise? And I don’t mean specifically this game because you can always say that you shouldn’t lose by 50.

No, it's not.

You have a 53 year old Mike Brown whose team also gets routinely blown out. The Kings have lost games by 18, 25, 36, 14, and 10, although the latter game was noncompetitive once the Pelicans took the lead.

No it's not.

There is no relationship between low head coaching experience, and results. You have first year coaches getting to the conference finals, NBA finals, or winning titles, sometimes.

There is a relationship between a bad GM, and results.

I believe the Jazz have lost by 50 multiple times to the Mavericks.

Are they the first team in history to have multiple 50 point losses to the same franchise?

More often the first year coaches win less than their later years until the years they get fired after their Game scapegoat them or figure out they can’t coach. I guess we would have to look at the records of the first year of experience coaches, who have started the second or third stint.

There's first year coaches with no prior experience that sometimes come into good teams. Like Dave Joerger in Memphis, who won 50 and 55 in his first two years.

You are really good at finding examples, but it seems like you say something isn’t like A because sometimes it’s like B, instead of telling me why it’s mostly B or not A. I understand A and B happen and I feel A happens more often.

I think B happens more often because there's lots of examples of rookie coaches joining good teams.

Mike Brown: 50 wins in 2005-2006
Sour Cheeks: 49 wins in 2001 - 2002 for Portland
Nice Nate: 38 - 29 in 2000 - 2001 for Seattle
Nick Doctor not a Nurse: 58 wins in 2018 - 2019
Hubie Brown: 58 wins in 1974-1975
Pat Riley : 50 - 21 in 1981-1982
Steve Kerr: 67 wins in 2014-2015
Phil Jackson: 55 wins in 1989 - 1990

Here's a cross sport article:

Nurse was the 3rd consecutive rookie head coach to win a title:

This article mentions Westhead and Joe Mazzulla:

This article says the average win by rookie coaches is 36 wins. If 42 wins is a good season (I don't know if it is), there's plenty on both sides of that mark. Maybe the median would be better, since if using average, there can be some really bad or good teams.

This article says the average is 37.98 wins:

The Jazz PA is the worst PA in sports. When they were doing the T-shirt toss, he said they were throwing it like Aaron Rodgers.

Doesn't he know the audience he's talking to????????? He should have said Alex Smith. I'm not sure why he said the name of some other guy.

First Year coach Adrian Griffin was 30 - 13.

(His expected W/L, according to margin of victory, was 26 - 17).

Well, I think the number of games that qualify for this thread, have been less this season? Even though this season has had a few disappointing losses?

I think this is the only 3rd such game this season.

I was upset we lost to Houston by one. I get a little upset at those things, relatively speaking, as sports is not as important as real life. However, I told myself that if we beat the Pelicans, it evens out. So now, with this game, it’s even worse.
