2013 Hall of Fame Candidates

Discuss.

All I care about is that Pat Burns gets his due finally.

My personal choices in the player category: Brindy, Roenick and Carbonneau. Hard to go wrong with the list.

If Niedermayer doesn't get in, there really is something wrong.

I'd like to see Andreychuk get it. Niedermayer would be a good choice also.

I wish they'd have a special category to get some of the older guys too who didn't make it right away and then got brushed aside as new guys came along. Sort of like the Senior Committee that the NFL has.

Agree with Pat Burns. Times have changed, a few of these guy's have played for six or seven teams. Dave Andreychuk's numbers are real solid and he never even made an All Star team. Doesn't he hold a record for most goals as a RW'er or something like that?

Edit: Can't be that one Shanahan has him beat by 16 goals.

Nieds, in my mind, is an absolute no brainer. Behind Lidstrom he was the best defenseman of that generation. He has won everything, was nothing but class, it's not even debateable that he gets in as far as I'm concerned.

Shanny should be in as well, not sure why he isn't in already (maybe they thought there was an outside chance he could unretire?).

His acceptance speech would be on video..." Hi I'm Brendan Shanahan Vice President of Hockey and Business Development and Director of Player Safety. After reviewing my career................................."

It's a shame the Lindros and Kariya had the concussion issues they had.

I'd go Nieds and Shanahan. After that, I'm not sure because this is a very tough list of guys. I don't see a lot of sure things on that list. I see a lot of "Hall of Very Good" players and I could see arguments for and against almost all of them.

Stefan Persson > Kevin Lowe. DaBolts would agree with me.

Dash, are you not a big Oilers' fan? That's weird, I thought you were originally from Edmonton for some reason.

Did anybody actually utter the phrase, "I can't wait to see Kevin Lowe lumber back to pick up a loose puck and then chip it high off the glass to Mess or Gretz". Yup, future Hall of Famer, that Kevin Lowe.

The HHOF has a builder's category, eloco. Maybe they should create a destroyer's category for Klown.

Lol. You're always so nice, Dash. I was just trying to think of what is the worst insult I could give you and landed on being from Edmonton. Still you barely bat an eyelash. Damn Canadians - too nice! ;)

Then we'd have to hear Cup say we let TWO hall of famers walk away (Shanny retired as a Devil so he goes in as one, dont care what anyone says!)

I have to say that I have changed my tune about Lindros in the last couple of years, maybe I'm getting soft, but for about 3 years, he was the dominant power forward in the league.

/Put it this way, if Dick Duff can make it into the Hall of Fame, Lindros should be there as well.

I say it every year, but Lindros should be in. On stats, and his general impact on the league as a player he warrants it.

But his story is one that all young hockey player (and their parents) should hear for all time. Like it or not, he fundamentally changed the game. On the ice and off.

Do we have a dept of player safety without his problems? As early as we did? He changed a lot about how players are handled.

And Сергей Макаров needs to be in. It's not the NHL hall of fame, and screw you TSN for only including NHL totals in his stat line. He was already an old man by the time he got here. His skating was a sight to see.
