This team is a beaten down garbage. Streit sucks!!!!
oh,you'll be whistling a different tune,as opposed to the Andy Griffith theme song, when the Flyers' rebound to take the Cup.
I'm a little overdosed from the Halloween candy I swiped from my nieces and nephews
But on a serious note, Flyers FO has some serious work to do. Awful decision process overall for the coaching issue, should have been taken care of over the Summer.
I don't think Tort hockey would've been the solution to the Flyers' problems. Really the problem is the way the team is setup, which falls on the GM, whomever that might be
The Flyers have a GM? But hey just remember "We don't need a fresh perspective" - Ed Snider....<sigh>
I think the obvious problem with the Flyers' offense is the lack of offensive production by Claude Giroux. Just a couple years ago, Giroux was one of the top offensive players in the league (many said he was even better than Sid) and the Flyers were one of the top offensive teams in the league. Over time, Giroux's production has declined and the Flyers' offensive production has declined with it.
Giroux
2011-12: 0.36 goals per game, 0.84 assists per game, 1.21 points per game
2012-13: 0.27 goals per game, 0.73 assists per game, 1.00 points per game
2013-14: 0.00 goals per game, 0.50 assists per game, 0.50 points per game.
Flyers
2011-12: 3.17 goals per game
2012-13: 2.75 goals per game
2013-14: 1.62 goals per game
I'm not saying Giroux sucks or is overrated. I'm not saying he should be stripped of the C. I fully acknowledge that Claude Giroux is one of the most talented players in the league and a very deserving captain. At the same time, I believe he takes the ultimate responsibility for the decline of the Flyers' offense. If Giroux doesn't play like an ELITE level player, then the Flyers have very little hope of turning the season around.
Well said Doob. I really couldn't agree more.
