Why even put him on the 26 man. He’s 28 and can’t hit. He has no future hear. If I had to get rid of someone, it would be Culberson.
They may be trying to move the process of getting rid of veterans into July, closer to the trade deadline. They may be hoping for a trade before going the DFA route. Just an idea.

The astros need a catcher and 1B it seems.
They have some good starters.
Odorizzi is about to begin a rehab assignment and should be back in about 2 weeks.
Valdez, Garcia and Javier all seem like pretty good starting pitchers and are under control for 3 more years.

Wonder what it would take to land one of them?
Assuming Lowe as a definite piece, what other pieces would it require ?
Lowe, Heim, Winn, Acuna, and Foscue for one of the guys with 3 years of control. For the one with 4 more years of control you might have to add another top 12 -18 level prospect.

In retrospect had thought there was a chance they would non tender Calhoun last year. Now we can see that would have been the smart move

Ouch. Never mind haha
I’m a bias Rangers fan so I was thinking Lowe, Heim, Owen White and Aaron Zavala.
2 guys who can help immediately with a ton of control left plus 2 prospects, I would even add Wendzel or Hauver if they needed/wanted lol

Do you know if the Astros system is lacking at any positions?

I think they’re lacking all over.
One of the worst farm systems in baseball.
Only Hunter Brown SP is in the top 100

It looks like they are in need of 2B and corner infielders the most. MIF like Acuna, Acosta, Hauver and Ornelas might interest them. A guy like Dustin Harris that they could move back to 1B might as well. Wendzel could as well, but he is not having a very good season. I wonder if they would need one of our better relievers.

Those are some good options. Their RP looks pretty darn good.
They’re a stout team with just a few holes
They will need to plug those hole too if they want to make it deep into the play offs

I have no desire to help Houston with anything unless we rip them off big time.

One article added CF to 1B and C for what they needed at the deadline. Adding Adolis to Heim and Lowe would lessen what else we had to trade by a great margin. In fact, that addition might make the Astros need to throw in something.

For the rest of you guys, this is not what I am hoping will happen, it is simply doing an exercise in what a possible trade might look like. If the Rangers had a chance to add a good young pitcher who is controllable through 2025 or 2026, they might do something bold.

Yeah Adolis is a high WAR, very valuable player.
His avg and OBP may not be high but he does a lot on defense and comes up big with clutch hits
He’s also under control for quite awhile.
He’s growing on me. Would be tough to see him go.
I really like him in CF
If it required him I’d rather not do it lol

They’d probably meet in the middle with Heim, Lowe, Foscue and Vanasco/Roby

The way Vanasco, Roby, and Bradford have been pitching, they might counter an offer of Vanasco or Roby with wanting Bradford instead.
