There's a reason why deals happen at the last minute - because that's when both parties are the most incentivized.

The owners don't mind shortening training camp, but I doubt they want to get into scheduled games. My prediction -- Training camps start March 1.

Well we know that the soonest the ST games will begin now is March 5th, and that date is already considered a bit shaky. A four week time frame seems to be the consensus requirement for practice and games before the '22 campaign begins for real, in order to avoid the spate of injuries that occurred in '20 due to a shortened prep time. This cuts it to the bone with respect to starting the regular season as scheduled on April 1st.

Hopefully that's all we lose. It sounded like there was some progress being made, at the very least.

Missing a week sucks for things like records, statistics, and just for the sake of having to wait another week. But really, at this point, if it's all we lose? After it does get going, we really won't notice the difference.

Not really surprising. I've seen Bassitt's name floated on the rumor mill going to us a multitude of times. I would very much be for it. It makes sense.
