No, @dad offered a scenario in which Washington gets Fields for Young and a third-rounder. If that is what it takes I'm all for it, but I'm pretty convinced that Chicago will be asking for draft capital... likely a 1st and whatever else they can get. IMO, Fields is a game-changer for Washington.
I could go as high young and a 1st

For Fields? More of the same disastrous decision making at the qb spot. Give up 2 First rounders for a guy who will not be a starting QB in 2 years.

we have to learn that other peoples trash is not our treasure.

Why? Because Ohio State qb’s have such an excellent track record in the NFL?!

We can all agree or disagree on a particular subject, but I have to ask... what is it about Fields that has you convinced that he is trash?
Personally, I see him as the best QB in his class when put into a situation similar to one like Lamar Jackson. Washington had far better weapons, an equal or better running attack, and Fields is a far better more accurate passer.

I sure didn’t see him as a more accurate passer. Isn’t he one of the lowest rated passers in the league?
I didn’t mean to imply he’s trash. I’m just not sold on giving up anything of value to get him. We have tried this strategy multiple times over the last 20 years. It’s never worked. NEVER. in fact, it rarely works for any team. Draft and develop. That is the proven strategy long term.

Justin Fields was favorably compared to Trevor Lawrence and vice versa, coming out, in fact, there was constant debate over which was better and at this point in their careers I see zero reasons not to believe that those comparisons still are valid. Lawrence has benefitted from going from coaching hell to coaching nirvana, whereas Fields after being relegated to a similar hell, could be on the move because of the insane notion that he was not the choice of either their new GM or their new HC. Put this young man on the field with the weapons that Washington currently has, and behind a bolstered O-line, coupled with competent coaches and I believe that the debate... Lawrence or Fields will be one that rages for years!

I can't recall ever trying to trade for a YOUNG, potentially franchise-changing QB! In fact, the ONLY time that this iteration of the franchise moved up to get a QB was Griffin and even doing that they had zero ideas towards making it work using his skills. When he got hurt, which was partially their fault, who exactly was the adult in their space that stood up and said..."Eff you Dan, He won't play until that knee is sound enough?"

I believe that the biggest problem for this franchise is not making moves to get their guy over the years!! Every other team relative to our position in the draft made moves to get their guy. When facing the idea to draft him in 2021, the Bears, drafting one pick later than Washington traded up to get him, leaving Washington grappling for a QB, ultimately ending up trying to sell its fanbase on Ryan Fitzpatrick!

There has been a total misconception about "chasing" top-tier QBs on this board. Let's stop the notion that trading real assets for legitimate talent has been tried multiple times over the years and that it has failed. Outside of Griffin, it has NEVER been tried and as such never been given a chance to succeed! I don't know who started it or where it comes from but the problem with a plan to draft and develop for Washington has been and remains a constant, with very few exceptions, draft position somewhere at or near the middle of the pack... (Take note of where this team has drafted and the number of QBs taken early in the Dan Snyder era)

Fields completion percentage was 60.4 % which is ranked 32nd in the NFL. His interception percentage was 3.5% which was ranked 32 in the league. Just below Carson Wentz and just above Prescott.

Fields' O-line was worse than Washington's, his receivers were Al Bundy, Pee-Wee Herman, and some traded-for guy who was used to sucker them out of their second-round pick in this upcoming draft. His tight-end targets could literally squeeze the snot out of quarters with their tight ends and build walls with their brick-like hands.

is this some kinda rebuttal?

I would think long time football fans could see how players improve with heart, effort, and with huge upgrades in talent at the skill positions. One year interception percentage stat is not working here. Chase Young shown all that? Heck, Fields & Howell looks pretty darn good to me.

Stymietee throwing out that wisdom here. It would be worth the phone call.

Based upon what? Certainly not his time in Chicago where he had horrible coaching, zero targets, and a much weaker O-line than we have here in Washington. So, factually you are correct, but factually given the circumstances we have no idea what he's capable of in the NFL. We do know that this guy could absolutely sling it before he entered the league. One other thing... wasn't that also the rap on Hurts before things around him got better?

I am a no to Fields but wouldn’t be totally hurt by the move. I simply liked Howell more than all the QBs in the class and thought we got a steal.

As for Fields in particular, he has been spectacular with his feet but passing has been a rather huge question. That being said, how can we judge his passing when we can’t name any of his WRs…without looking it up. As for his OL, they were doing something right because he had a lot of designed runs.

Al Bundy wasn’t bad either Sty. This one time in HS he had four TDS. It is sad he was relegated to woman’s shoe sales. At least he got a rocking wife out of the deal.

Fields could turn into a Lamar type still. He has only been in the league two years. I wouldn't trade for him though.
