Then Roberto only has himself to blame for not being dealt & the Canucks are left with the mess. It would be much easier for Gillis to trade Schneider.

Looks like Jimmy Howard is gonna be getting Luongo money...

Aaron Ward @aaronward_nhl
Sounds like Detroit Red Wings and Jimmy Howard are on the verge of coming to terms on a 6 year deal paying in the range of 5.3 M per #TSN

Is there a big difference between Schneider and Luongo? Why not trade Schneider for a bigger return?

Obviously, the big difference is age, but also Bobby Lou asked to be traded and I think it is incumbent upon Gillis to honour that request. I agree that Schneider could fetch a very nice return, but you also have Crampy signed for a very nice dollar figure.

Luongo, Bergeron help buy QMJHL’s Acadie-Bathurst Titan

A group of northern New Brunswick investors is teaming up with five NHL players, including Vancouver’s Roberto Luongo and Boston’s Patrice Bergeron, to purchase the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

The group of investors, who are planning to buy the Titan, includes 28 people with more expected to join.

But it also includes five NHL players, including Luongo and Bergeron, who both played for the Titan before starting their professional careers.

The sale price has not been confirmed but it is estimated at more than $3 million.

Darrell Stothart, who is one of the investors, said the deal shows a great deal of co-operation from people across the region.

“I think it means a lot to the region,” Stothart said.

“I think this is excellent. I think it is great for the whole region, certainly we know the co-operation is there, we can see by the number of people involved with it.”

The investors are buying the team from long-time owner Léo-Guy Morrissette.

The leader of the group, Tracadie-Sheila businessman Leopold Thériault, has been looking for up to 35 investors who would each put in $100,000.

This isn’t the first time the northern New Brunswick junior hockey franchise’s future has been uncertain.

In 2009, there was a possibility the Titan could have relocated to St. John’s but a deal was struck to keep the team in Bathurst.

The Titan started playing in Bathurst in 1998.

Luongo, the Vancouver Canucks goalie, was traded to the Titan mid-way through the 1999 season after playing the previous three years with the Val-d’Or Foreurs. The Titan retired Luongo’s jersey in 2012.

Bergeron, a forward with the Boston Bruins, played for the Titan from 2001 to 2003

I'm not sure that those two are really a good match...huh. I suppose Ottawa may be looking for some vet help?

I think they're a perfect match depeding on who Ottawa wants. The Sharks would probably like to get a bit younger & the Sens might want to add some veteran leadership & skill up front. Pavelski, Marleau or Thornton might make sense for Ottawa.
