I feel for the seniors who are involved in athletics in high school who lost out on their final year to play baseball, softball and soccer plus those involved in academic or music events at this time of the year. Not to mention they may not be able to have a graduation ceremony. Same I guess would go for those in college.

Personally I agree but there are so many moving parts it may prove difficult to decide.

Different states different restrictions as mentioned
Pay for players if shortened.
Players with families if relocated.
Revenue issues for owners
Fans or no fans
TV contracts still in effect and for how much.
Insurance/legal issues if player gets virus.
More tweaks to service time if something changes

Plus the obvious- testing for all in stadium.

So many parties and so little time to make a decision

I was only speaking to the fans or no fans issue... if they can work the rest out, I say go for it, with no fans... I'd rather have sports going sans fans in the stadiums, or with serious restrictions to maintain distance, than no sports at all

  • Just saw on the news where Louisville Slugger shut down production due to no MLB.

So they may add our ballpark and this area to Florida and Arizona to play games.

I miss baseball, but this downtime is much easier to deal with knowing that the team was going to stink this year.

we still haven’t done hardly anything to fix a bottom 5 infield in MLB.

Yeah, I was speaking more to all the games being played in Arizona. I am with you as far as fans/no fans as it makes no difference to me as long as they are playing in various stadiums.

Figured out the date of my first Rangers Game, MLB game and Concert June 22, 1986, the Monkees were on a 20 year anniversary tour and my sister was a big fan, so we went, I've liked baseball ever since... it was Jose Canseco's rookie year and Dave Kingman's last year

Also Ruben Sierra's, Pete Incavalia's, Mitch Williams' rookie seasons, and Toby Harrah's final season, but he didn't play

This makes me feel old. David Clyde is 65 years old today. Happy Birthday David!

They may have the players trying to social distance by sitting in the stands, but all of that goes out the window during bench-clearing, or rather stands-clesring brawls, when the Astros are playing.

This to me are pertinent considerations if baseball is to be played this year as well as obvious state government rulings that make games off site a factor

I guess what I am saying is things were done but Sox mgt get popped zero minus them letting Cora go in a season that might not happen. Very light and a tad inconsistent IMO

Based on everything I read, it was determined to be no where near as systemic and pervasive as the Astros system of cheating, it was one guy that was tasked with studying signs but also had access to the replay room... and then it was only in specific situations and not during the game... I also thought it was a bit light, but not by much...

Oh yes they Astros actions have been horrific. They had a prior incident though that I thought should factor in.
I thought the Astros got off light too
