I may get a chance to attend my first ever game in Surprise next Friday evening. We are leaving on a road trip to California to see my daughter and her family in the morning. Hopefully, we can go to a game on the way back.

Hope that works out, it's a great experience.

I wonder how much of his increase in health, and to some extent his increase in production, was due to him DHing a lot more?

Its a fair point... i think he would have been a much better buy at DH than Choo, but I'll be honest i was really mad at Cruz at the time for the PEDs and it really jaded me

Ticket prices for the average working man fan have jumped quite a bit. Used to have season tickets packages but have been priced out. Looks like corporate STH may be the new norm.

The game of baseball has changed and IMO not for the better. Lost its simplicity.

Probably make only 3-4 games this year.

Rangers make first cuts of spring
The Rangers made 12 cuts from big league camp on Friday afternoon.

Right-hander Ariel Jurado was optioned to Triple-A Nashville, while righties Kyle Cody and Tyler Phillips (the Rangers’ No. 24 prospect, per MLB Pipeline) and shortstop Anderson Tejeda (No. 8) were optioned to Double-A Frisco.

The following players were reassigned to Minor League camp: right-handers Jason Bahr, Tim Dillard, Ian Gibaut, Taylor Guerrieri, Wei-Chieh Huang and Arturo Reyes, lefty Kyle Bird and catcher Sam Huff (Texas’ No. 2 prospect and No. 74 in all of MLB).

Huff impressed during his time in big league camp, although he went 1-for-12 with a homer in six Cactus League games.

No real surprises. Would like'd to have seen Huff do a little better but best he get more time in minors.

I said a few weeks ago that IKF was playing out of his head (didn't use that term) when he was playing multiple infield positions a couple of years ago. Defensively and offensively. When the catching experiment happened his average plummeted. Just maybe he has found his grove back again since catching is not a part of the plan for him.

it seemed like the catching really hurt his hitting.

I’ve never been a big fan of Chirinos, but I’m glad he’s back so that Mathis will play less and IKF an focus on other things.

that’s not likely tho.

minor and several of the pitchers love Mathis. They probably keep him around to catch 1 or 2 games a week while they let Trevino play nearly everyday in triple A

probably but that means a huge hole offensively 1 or 2 games a week

poor Calhoun......the one and only year we don’t jerk him around when it comes to a roster spot? He gets hurt.

I hope it’s not as bad as it looked.
