I think with Duran and most likely Smith as well they want them to be able to play as many positions as possible. What I am not as sure about is how soon they expect Duran to be ready offensively.

The variety of teams given in this answer is a good indication of where baseball is right now: with a lot of teams that think they can make the postseason and, more importantly, win the World Series -- and with money to spend to help that cause. Texas might not be an October favorite today, but it should be a hot stove player.

That wouldn't be Englert that they are talking about. He isn't a reliever.

I would be concerned with an upper level pitcher being taken and used at the back of the bullpen, conveniently being hurt 2 or 3 times and then sent to AAA in 2024. A team could even do that with a guy like Ryan Garcia. With today's rosters it is hard to hide a position guy, even on a rebuilding club. Pitchers, on the other hand can easily be stashed away in the pen.

I don't really agree with this statement by Kennedi Landry.

:In 2023, Jack Leiter (MLB No. 45, Texas No. 2), Owen White (MLB No. 59, Texas No. 4) and Cole Winn (Texas No. 10) are all expected to play their way onto the big league roster.:

Leiter is nowhere close to the big league roster and Winn would have to turn things around in major fashion to get close in 2023. White could be close and could make his debut sometime in 2023.

Who knows? Ideally I want a great hitting catcher with an elite defensive catcher

Even Trevino with his framing that appears to be Bobby Wilson driven did not have a great arm.

But yes you need to call a great game conducive to pitcher’s strength and abilities. A lot of factors. Alfaros arm still interests me
