I guess they lost their patience with him. Watch him go somewhere else and be successful.
He had his problems defensively but thought his bat would produce more. He night need a change of scenery. Seems like he has some issues reading flyballs. Maybe more a 1B type
Totally spitballing

I imagine his bat will be fine once he gets regular playing time for long enough to get acclimated to the big leagues.

sometimes a guy just can't cut it in MLB. I get that impression from Adell.

I think Adolis could not cut it but more then playing time, he made necessary changes

Yes, if you have bad practices as a hitter those need changing. That doesn't negate the need to get acclimated to a higher level than you are used to though, and that only happens through regular playing time over a prolonged period. Unfortunately, we live in a microwave culture where everything has to get done in a hurry.

what's a reasonable amount of time to give a guy, in general
I think that depends on if he seems to be making progress. If he is just as lost after a couple hundred at bats, when he is in the lineup almost every day, then he either isn't ready or he never will be. If he is making some progress there is nothing wrong with him taking several hundred at bats to get fully acclimated.

Josh Jung hot .204 this year in about 100 at bats. I fully expect, with regular playing time, for him to hit a whole lot better than that in his 5th set of 100 at bats.

Starting pitchers are the same way. Look at the difference in Otto's numbers after August 1 for a great example of that.

2021: Rangers sign Semien AND Seager
2022: Rangers sign Rodon AND deGrom

I’m getting more and more of an inclination they’re trying to land 2 of these 4.
DeGrom, Rodon, Senga and Bassitt.
Or maybe 1 of those and a trade for a legit SP

Imo there’s no way Bochy and Maddux come here without some assurance the Rangers are going to be super competitive and active this off-season
