Anyone else annoyed the Astros haven’t suffered any drop off?
i am annoyed they are catching a break with the rainoutAnyone else annoyed the Astros haven’t suffered any drop off?
There is a part of me that wants the Astros to remain great so that maybe the Rangers will aim high when trying to finish off the rebuild. I want us to build a team capable of winning 100 games and not one capable of winning 90. So, as long as we are building, I kind of hope we have a great division opponent to try and overcome Then when we are done, I hope the Astros fall completely apart.Anyone else annoyed the Astros haven’t suffered any drop off?
That was the travesty that was never talked about as much and why games should be played and not politickedJeff Wilson shares my sentimenta about last night's rainout.
"At least it was raining, unlike that “rainout” in the 2011 World Series. Game 6 was delayed and it never rained a drop, and the storm that never came allowed the Cardinals to start Chris Carpenter in Game 7."
I am glad that we are at the point that we don't have to bet or depend on one guy any longer. I remember when it was devastating every time someone like Luke Jackson failed. I really hope Winn bounces back with a different pitching coach, but if he doesn't then it won't feel nearly as bad as it would have three or four years ago.He thinks Winn was under a lot of pressure and will be able to work through things. I tend to agree but not willing to bet on it 100%
Here is Jeff Wilson's guess about what is happening in the Martin Perez negotiations.
So when the Rangers say they want to keep Perez, it’s only for the right price. The right price is their price.
The guess here is that Perez has asked the Rangers for five years and that the Rangers are thinking three at the most. Jon Gray money, $14 million a year, seems like it might get the job done.
Perez was better than $14 million this season and swore on Episode 55 of the Rangers Today Baseball Podcast that the 2022 version of him is who he will be for the duration of his next contract. He’s told the Rangers that.
It’s up to them to decide if they believe him, and they have probably been poking holes in him to see if he’s really worth Gray money.
Honestly, the Rangers would probably like it if Perez accepted a qualifying offer, even at $19.65 million. It’s just one year, and teams love one-year deals. But if they think he’s only going to accept a five-year deal, they need throw three years and $42 million at him and see what it does.
The Rangers badly need starting pitching and general manager Chris Young is smart, so this is going to get done. It’s just not going to be as easy as it should be.
That would surely get it done and maybe even less with. 4th year optionThey should just do a 3/$47 with a 4th year mutual option at $16 mil or a $3 million buyout. It would be a $50 million guarantee

Which I think is too low. Perez thinks he is a forever changed pitcher which I think is true mentally but arms don’t alway hold up. I do like the 3 years and option with buyout. If something does not get down they will do QO. Hope it does not get down to thatYeah maybe that’s too high?
I just asked on the mlb trade rumors chat and Steve Adams answered saying he’s thinking 3/$30
He may be the only one that thinks he is worth more.Which I think is too low. Perez thinks he is a forever changed pitcher which I think is true mentally but arms don’t alway hold up. I do like the 3 years and option with buyout. If something does not get down they will do QO. Hope it does not get down to that
Is he worth trading Semien or Seager so we can afford him?

AbsolutelyAlong with Ohtani, there will be some other very good free agents available a year from now. That is one reason I am against maxing out the budget this offseason.
