Costas said yesterday that when you play a team matters.
Teams peaking at the right time definitely matters. Heard say that a layoff may make a team rusty. But as mentioned a ways a team is constructed matters. Plus a little luck is a factor especially in a short series. I sure don’t have all the answers

What were you thinking?

Especially when you trick up the playoffs.
So whether we agree or not means a team should adapt, right?

But yeah I am or a fan of the first round byes

The moral of the story is, don't seek to be great, try to be a few games better than mediocre and hope you get hot or lucky at the right time. Lol

The tricking up of the draft didn't have an ounce of effectiveness on competitiveness in the league, but tricking up the playoffs will tempt team to not try and improve their team past an 88-win caliber team. Once again MLB and the Union got things backwards. That is par for the course by both parties.

There is no good way to adapt that I know of, past what has always been required. I will take our WS teams of 2010 and 2011 in this format or the previous one.

If you are really good you have to learn to adapt to a long layoff. If you aren't you have to adapt by learning how to be lucky. I am not sure how to do either one.

I will be really glad when we hire a manager so I can quit reading about how much the Rangers need to bring back Ron Washington. I don't need constant reminders of Game 6 and of the game 7 starting pitcher decision. Makes me want to puke.

what are the odds the Rangers sign another top SS, move Seager to 3B, Jung to 1B and Lowe to DH?

I think it is more likely that they sign another top SS, like Trea Turner, and move him to CF.

I would rather flip flop Seager and Jung in your scenario.

Do you think the Rangers will go hard after Nimmo?
Wonder what kind of contract he would get? 5-$100?

I don't see us pursuing an OF unless something unusual falls in our lap. I think having Carter and Zavala in our near future affects that. I also think they still want to see Duran and Smith get some prolonged time in the OF in 2023.

I don't see any chance Duran or Smith in the OF unless we somehow trade one of the other three. Carter or Zavala has a better chance.

I agree that Zavala and Carter have a good chance, but I don’t agree with leaving spots open for them. Even the most talented teams find playing time for the best players.
By the time Zavala and Carter get up here full time Adolis could be tailing off or traded, Taveras and Thompson could also be obsolete..
Miller & Mathias are the guys whose spots would be gone when those guys come up imo.
Build it up and wait until the talent is overflowing then make moves.
I agree with leaving a little bit of room tho.. which is why I want one OF and not 2

If you were the GM and had $55 million to play with plus our prospect capital what 4 moves would you make?

Resign Perez-$15 mil per year
Sign Bassitt- $17 per year
Sign Nimmo-$21 mil per year
Trade for a SP like Bieber, Lopez, Gallen etc..
I would use 4 of Duran, Huff, Foscue, Winn, Vanasco, Roby, Ornelas and Saggese as parts of the package.

They finished the season with Smith in the OF and they have already started letting Duran play the OF in the minors. It seems like that they want to find out if these guys can make it in the OF because they believe in their bats.
