Could be worse. We could be the GiantsRadio silent rangers.
Only caveat is maybe trade for relief with surplus in MILB. Some guys will need to be rostered next year and we need to be ready for that. Not to say some rostered guys can’t be movedThe only possible way to compete with the top spenders is to develop a large portion of the top talent you need to do so. Develop prospects and be prepared to play them. That includes taking some lumps when they are fresh on the scene and struggle initially.
Our owners may have one more big contract left in their future budget. We had better try to develop and use several of our prospects. Let's continue to find out which prospects we can use going forward, in 2023. Then we will be much better prepared to compete between 2024 and 2030.
It is imperative that we have several young and cheap, but very good players, during our window of opportunity.
Let's find out what can this year about Duran, Smith, Huff, Owen White, Winn, Foscue, Harris, Bradford, Kent, Otto, Dunning, Ornelas and Crim. Some of them at the big league level and the rest at AAA.
The only trades we need to consider making are ones where prospects and veterans could bring back great young players with 6 or 7 years of control left.
If we win 88 games this year, instead of 92, but find out we have young players to use over the next 6 or 7 years, then we are much better off in the long run. We are not going to sniff a World Series in 2023 either way.
Relief is the one and only area I would spend on. That is one area where we have no prospects, who even the most optimistic of us think can be depended on.Only caveat is maybe trade for relief with surplus in MILB. I wonder if what they found if anything in the physical. This is an insane story
The problem with that is, the Rangers have not been good at developing talent. The only possible way to compete with the top spenders is to develop a large portion of the top talent you need to do so. They have been even worse at spending their way to a WS appearance. Developing is our only chance. We definitely have to get better at development, but there is evidence to suggest that we have gotten some better. The problem with that is, the Rangers have not been good at developing talent.
So we need to reproduce the 5 pitchers mentioned. We may already have our Young signed via FA. Maybe Crim or another can be our Moreland and another OF. Hoping Jung will be the first successI would say that the development of Feliz, Holland, Harrison, Elvis, Young, Kinsler, Ogando, Moreland and Feldman was a huge part of our 2011 success. You could add trading for a very young Murphy to that as well.
Lol. Well, as long as we also have a Hamilton, a Beltre, and a Napoli. So we need to reproduce the 5 pitchers mentioned. We may already have our Young signed via FA. Maybe Crim or another can be our Moreland and another OF. Hoping Jung will be the first success
Did they really develop Harrison and Young. They were acquired in trades of other organizations.I would say that the development of Feliz, Holland, Harrison, Elvis, Young, Kinsler, Ogando, Moreland and Feldman was a huge part of our 2011 success. As much as they will Smith, Duran, and Harris. Dunning and Otto too. Let's not include Howard or any of the other two spares we traded Gibson and Crouse for, lol.Did they really develop Harrison and Young. They were acquired in trades of other organizations.
There's the OF axquosition everyone was expecting.
