No More "Bullpen Failure"
Those two pitchers are ranked 26 and 33 overall. The best we have is Leiter at 45.

Deferred money
It is amazing how many more guys are starting to decline in their early 30s while at the same time contract lengths are getting lengthier and lengthier.
It sounds like they want to start with a pitcher who is higher ranked than Leiter. I don't think they want to make up in quantity what we lack to offer in quality. They might take Jung, White and Leiter for Reynolds.Maybe Owen White, Dane Dunning, Josh Smith, Duran, Huff & Harris could get us Reynolds and Bednar
It works on the trade simulator lol
Unless a good exchange I sure don’t want to over pay with prospects for Reynolds without a good bullpen especially since our future unless we hit the pitching lottery it is not this yearIt sounds like they want to start with a pitcher who is higher ranked than Leiter. That could be a ton of deferring and result in what could be an actual AAV of $50 million or more for some of those guys.Deferred money
I would not understand trading for a reliever when there are free agents to be had and we have money left to spend. They could very well do that, but it doesn't seem like the most prudent use of resources. We may be still involved in the trade market for relief help. That may why slower
Cohen luxury tax putting money back in owners pockets I heardThat could be a ton of deferring and result in what could be an actual AAV of $50 million or more for some of those guys.
I have heard that MLB is already concerned about using extra years to circumvent the luxury tax.
Some of these teams are going to be in huge financial trouble in 5 years or so.
The problem with those trade value computations is that not all clubs want 2+2+2+1+1 in exchange for 8. I know if I was trading away a valuable commodity, I would not want a bunch of much lesser quality guys. Isn't that close to what we did for Darvish and Gibson.Maybe Owen White, Dane Dunning, Josh Smith, Duran, Huff & Harris could get us Reynolds and Bednar

Rangers have a history for not overpaying for relievers and the price has gone up and thinking there are other suitors with budgets spent so it goes slow This try for a tradeI would not understand trading for a reliever when there are free agents to be had and we have money left to spend. That history was with JD in charge. There is a new sheriff now. I just hope he feels differently.Rangers have a history for not overpaying for relievers and the price has gone up and thinking there are other suitors with budgets spent so it goes slow This try for a trade
Just my speculation and spitballing
Exactly. These long contracts will handcuff some teams down the road. But they created their own monster. You either do it or some other team is going to do it and get the player you want. I really don't like where this is all heading. That could be a ton of deferring and result in what could be an actual AAV of $50 million or more for some of those guys.

Do you think that is the case with Seager and Semien as well?Deferred money
Seager yes Semien not so much and even more so a contract like Corea with injury historyDo you think that is the case with Seager and Semien as well?
I don't think Seager or Semien either one will be of much value to us in their last 3 years of their respective contracts.Seager yes Semien not so much and even more so a contract like Corea with injury history
Hate to think what it will cost to replace them at contract end.I don't think Seager or Semien either one will be of much value to us in their last 3 years of their respective contracts.
