Why? It is money already spent either way.Ego may be part of it but I also can’t see the owners willing eating a 25M loss if we cut him
That’s what I’ve been sayingDon't eat all of it. Put a pkg of money and prospect
If it were not for the ponies but that makes JD look like a nut and he knows it. Try making a deal with that hanging over your head. Easier for JD to let it go and eat crow. That is why his ego is in play. imoThat’s what I’ve been saying
Question is what do you get for Oder and two ponies. Rather pay him off but ego stands in the way.We gave away a prospect to have Phillies take on Matt Harrison contract. Small market mentality. And Odor contract is not that massive to some that have been eaten. Everyone has an opinion
AbsolutelyI don’t think Odor has trade value and would rather not include a prospect so trade partner would kick
in cash. Honestly what we do about Elvis has more financial consequence than Odor.
Still don’t really care too much. Numb to it all. But think it a bit much all this gets many on this board ruffled. What I think is huge is the amount of taxpayer money thrown in and lack of commitment to produce a winner. Bad politics
If you were a GM and he had been released, would you sign Odor to the MLB minimum salary?I don’t think Odor has trade value and would rather not include a prospect so trade partner would kick

Good question, if I had a need and were a contender, yes to the minimum but he would have to compete for the position and would play the best guy. If my team was in a rebuild, then noIf you were a GM and he had been released, would you sign Odor to the MLB minimum salary?
Then we should be able to trade him if we would agree to pay all of his salary except for what amounts to the minimum.Good question, if I had a need and were a contender, yes to the minimum but he would have to compete for the position and would play the best guy. Maybe the Rangers want more though but yes I think we might get a trade done under that scenario. I do think this is not a year where teams want to supplement cashThen we should be able to trade him if we would agree to pay all of his salary except for what amounts to the minimum.
I think any GM that needs a 2b bad enough to bring Oder on board would be wise enough to bring a guy up from triple A. But it is possible to trade him just hard to see why any team would want and welcome him on board.Maybe the Rangers want more though but yes I think we might get a trade done under that scenario. Of course options are needed due to his recent track history and consistent inconsistencyI think any GM that needs a 2b bad enough to bring Oder on board would be wise enough to bring a guy up from triple A. If a team could get him for the minimum they would be a lot more likely to gamble on him, if they didn't already have a good option. It would be like us trading for Josh Hamilton. We didn't have to pay him much, so if he didn't pan out we could have cut him and not lost much in the process.I think any GM that needs a 2b bad enough to bring Oder on board would be wise enough to bring a guy up from triple A. I cannot find anything about that. I wonder if the upcoming roster finalization for Rule 5 has anything to do with the delay. So what did we get from the Mets in the Frazier/Chirinos trades?
