Staying in the NL is the best thing for his financial future. Now he can make some big bucks even when this contract is done. I really wanted him on the Astros though, so we could knock him around for awhile.WHeeler to Phillies for $120MM
Where would we play him? If we go with Santana in Center and Calhoun in left, I put Gallo fulltime in right. I want Guzman's glove at 1B and I think his bat comes around, so where other than the bench do we put Maz if Choo opens the season with the team?I would be willing to hang onto Maz for another year.

I don't understand not putting Gallo back at first. His defense was solid as far as I could remember. And I have very little faith in Guzman figuring it out. I want my 1B to have more than one HR per 25 plate appearances, even if it does cost me an extra dozen errors through the season because of slightly less defense.Where would we play him? We get an additional bench spor and I would assume that we would carry an OF'er capable
Flip a coin. Win either side or loseWho do you think will be better Gibson or Hamels
Agree with gone but no way the owners allow $21M to sit on the bench. They're already paying $9M a year for Fielder yo sit on the beach. That would a wasted $30MChoo needs to be gone or on the bench.
What if JD can tell them "pay him another $11M and I should be able to flip him for good young BP arm at the deadline"? Think they would be on board with that? He could always DH for us.Agree with gone but no way the owners allow $21M to sit on the bench. They're already paying $9M a year for Fielder yo sit on the beach. That would a wasted $30M

Choo can block any trade. We have to convince him that it is either he find a team or elseWhat if JD can tell them "pay him another $11M and I should be able to flip him for good young BP arm at the deadline"? Think they would be on board with that? He could always DH for us.

what then at 1st? Mazara who has never played the position or someone else? our infield defense was bad last season and it would be worse in 2020 with an inexperienced Mazara there at 1stGallo has excellent speed and a great arm, both of which would be wasted at 1st. And I think he'd be much less likely to be injured in RF.
Honestly, I have Guzman at AAA unless he shows in ST he's ready to be an everyday hitter of ML pitching.
