There wouldn't be one DH per say, you could rotate, Mazara, Gallo and Calhoun through the spot, even Santana, I agree about him not being a realistic option at 1B, Mazara and Gallo had issues with injuries this year

On the infield you IKF that can play every position to give guys days off, even catcher in an emergency situation
What about Choo? The Rangers aren't going to pay him $21M to sit so he's going to be our DH for at least 115 to 135 games this coming season and if we insert Santana into CF then what do we do with Mazara and Gallo? I'm assuming that Gallo becomes our full time RF'er. So Mazara becomes a bench player?

I would've taken him for 1 year and 18 million to fill the 3/4 spot

I would have taken Hamels under those terms as well.

I agree with both of ya.........I don't know if we really got into deep discussions with Hamels, but if the dollars were similar/equal then he made himself a good deal b/c the Braves will contend again this season.

He's been pretty clear about what he doesn't and didn't like about Wheeler and Hamels (how they fare against AL teams, injury history, or both)

Fielder is what his loss of bat speed... Choo was always too much money and too many years for what he did
At the time the team didn't agree with those assessments and with the people they had on staff I accepted that they saw more than we did. In hindsight I see things differently.

If we were contending Yes. I have my doubts we could flip him. Guess one year contracts are generally over pays.

Stop with BS. Name names
I just got through, not 30 minutes ago, saying I would have signed Hamels. There are several pitchers available similar to him or better. Hamels was wanting a short term deal. Others will settle for a one or two year deal as well.

You do tend to either ignore or forget what was said about a subject recently. Then when you do try to recall, you misrepresent what I said, like saying I wanted a cheaper pitcher than Minor to replace him with.

Random thought What if Rangers new batting approach actually did sink in and fix Odor. Hate to do the work and let another team reap the benefits.
Give him 30 days

You weigh the facts and the options. Then you use judgment.
And I believe the team did exactly that. They have a hellava a lot information available to them than we do and they made calls based on that. Does every call work ou? No. It is easy to sit on the sidelines and say I knew these guys weren't going to work out but we aren't the ones making the decisions. Should they ask the fans to make all the calls and make their decisions based on what you and I think?

He is filler until something better comes along. We need a lot better filler than Miller, Smyly, and Volquez this year.

He could be flippable, but I doubt we will be far enough out to be sellers this year.

Okay on Hamels at his 1 year $18M or 2 years at $30+M.

They certainly shouldn't ask fans. That is a silly question.

That still doesn't keep me from making up my own mind.

Fact. Unless we move Choo he will play this year unless he crumbles
Mazara may play more first base than we think.
Definitely will be a roster crunch unless we move some players. Need to find a way to have Solak and Calhoun and Santana in the lineup regularly

Who do you think will be better Gibson or Hamels

I've already said to trade Choo for whatever

I'm going to assume the Rangers are going to make every effort to move Choo. And honestly, I don't understand why there isn't a fairly strong market for him. He hits for a decent average, has decent power, gets on base via walks/being hit with the best of them, etc............We'll have to eat some salary of course, but he really needs to be gone this year.

I'm all for Santana in CF and putting Gallo in right, with Calhoun in left. Mazara's the odd man out here and quite frankly, I don't know what I would even suggest about him. I don't think there's much of a market for him......Maybe he can play a little 1st, but I'm not sure of that.

2B- Solak (Odor traded)
3B- Rendon
SS- Andrus
LF- Calhoun/Gallo
CF- Santana
RF- Gallo/Mazara
DH- Mazara/Gallo/Calhoun (Choo traded)

Bench: IKF, Trevino, DDJ, Heineman?

SP:
1- Minor
2- Lynn
3- Gibson
4- FA pitcher (as yet unsigned)
5- Allard/Burke/Palumbo/Hearn/Phillips/Hernandez/Mendez/Jurado

Bullpen: Montero, Martin, LeClerc, Hernandez, Clase, Chavez, (other internal options maybe a FA)

I would like to see this. Looks awesome.

im glad we didn’t get hamels. I thought he underperformed while he was here. Hamels was billed as an ace, but he never really pitched like one for us. Especially in the playoffs.
