If we ever get close enough to perfect, where we have enough talent to squeeze him out of the lineup, he probably would be worth more in trade than on the bench.

No such thing as a perfect team except in dreams. Which is why teams need a good Utility player who can play multiple positions well. There are 20+ teams that wish they had a Danny Santana on their roster.

Yes, because he is capable of starting for them.

It would take just about a perfect lineup to relegate him to being just a bench player. That is why he needs to start for us, we don't have a near-perfect lineup. I am all for getting a lineup that good though.

there are no perfect teams and with injuries and the need to rest players over a 162 game schedule having a utility player who can step in at 3B, SS, 2B, all 3 OF positions, DH and even 1B and play multiple games at any those positions even starting for extended periods is a major plus for any team

If not what does he do. Not a good back up at catcher. Any way you cut it, it all comes back to Odor. Without Odor, Santana-CF, Solak-2B, LKF -UIF.

You are going to have more than one guy on the bench. Heineman can back up the OF and 1B. IKF has played a lot at SS before.

Yeah, kind of like a long man winning pitcher of the year some year.

With the Rockies looking for a dynamic, right-handed center fielder, it would seem Leody Taveras and/or Bubba Thompsonwould have to be included in a package for Arenado. Taveras is a switch-hitter, but is a true center fielder that is already great defensively, while Thompson may be a better fit as a corner outfielder, he does have the tools to play center field.

The Rockies' reluctance to trade Arenado to the Dodgers is a good sign for Texas. The odds of the Rockies dealing him is another great sign and could give Texas the ability to truly put together a package that Colorado can't deny, if they want Arenado that badly.

The package I proposed for Arrenado a few weeks back included Taveras. Start with him and Tejeda.

Just stay away from guys like Huff, Crouse and Winn.

Thing is, he doesn't really play any of them well except 2B and LF, and we don't have much need for him in either place

I'm optimistic about him getting better in CF if he gets playing time

Been saying that myself, we have plenty of overlap in the OF and on 1B
