Missouri was an afterthought in the Big 12/Big 8.
A&M was a little better than Missouri, but they were still not the obvious top dog of the Big 12/SWC.

Neither one of those team magically became Kansas football since joining the SEC.

Missouri played a couple of SEC title games and has been bad sometimes as well.
That seems a lot like what Missouri was doing in the Big 12.

A&M is about the same as pre-SEC A&M.
They recruit top talent and A&M can possibly win the SEC if things break well. That was their Big 12 resume as well.

Why would Oklahoma and Texas fail miserably, when Missouri and A&M did not change much at all??
And another thought. OU and Texas will do well. Actually looking forward to playing the sips again. At first I didn’t want them but now that I had time to let it sink - come on over

Our B12 resume was much worse than SEC. against lesser talent too
Missouri’s conference winning percentage in the Big 12 - .488
Missouri’s conference winning percentage in the SEC - .473

Aggie conference winning percentage in the Big 12 - .527
Aggie conference winning percentage in the SEC - .575

B12 we were under .500 pretty often. Especially during the Fran years. Since we moved we haven’t been under .500 yet. It helped having to play Kansas, Baylol, and ISU pretty regular but they beat us pretty often too. For what it’s worth, B12 was a lot better across the board before 2010s now it’s just OU and a couple of ok teams that have a break out year…but not Texas they still suck

A&M also didn’t have a top 5 recruiting coach with a championship pedigree when they were in the Big 12

aTm recruiting, national rankings 11 years before and since joining the SEC:

Pre-SEC: 2000: 31, 2001: 31, 2002: 18, 2003: 14, 2004: 10, 2005: 11, 2006: 17, 2007: 41, 2008: 16, 2009: 27, 2010: 16, Average: 21
SEC: 2011: 34, 2012: 16, 2013: 9, 2014: 5, 2015: 11, 2016: 18, 2017: 13, 2018: 17, 2019: 4, 2020: 6, 2021: 8, Average: 12.8

And look at all the top 10 finishes. Even if it seems they're treading water, output-wise, it does appear that joining the conference has upped Aggie's talent level.

3 top 10 classes since Jimbo arrived. Not saying he’s a world-beater of a coach, but he has a recruiting system that works.

Georgia 54 OU 48 - 2017 in 2nd OT, this was a competitive game, so what's the point of this being here
Alabama 45 OU 34 - 2018 this was also a great game, and Bama went and got man handled by Clemson 2 weeks later 44-17
LSU 63 OU 28 - 2019 highest paid team in the land, Bama lost to both LSU and Burn that same year, way to make a statement with this one
OU 55 Florida 20 - 2020 OU had many new parts moving this year and still made a splash, imagine what it will be the next few years with the same players of that year.

Every year except for a few Oklahoma has either won against the SEC Big Teams or lost in a great game. Don't try and play at OU doesn't have what it takes to win the SEC. Last year OU beat the snot out of the SECs #2 team (ya ya something something about missing players, so was OU in that game), and will only be better than last year for the next several years to come.

Oklahoma is coming to SEC town and we don't care about team SEC. We hold our own and don't claim the victories of our conference brethren as our own. We wont be loud and obnoxious as those AtM idiots in the South. We come with accolades and a blueblood program that is amongst the best in the Nation. We have our bad years just as anyone else. But to say Oklahoma wont amount to anything in the SEC is just delusional, they said the same thing about OU going into the Big12, and they ended up owning that conference.
You are making excuses. The Alabama game wasn't a great game. Alabama got a big lead and cruised without ever being challenge. Yes Clemson beat Alabama. Has nothing to do with OU getting beat by Alabama pretty easily though. You don't hold your own against Top Tier SEC recently. You are 1-3. 0-3 in Playoff games.

Lol you guys aren’t listening. OU had a horrible defense, I mean historically bad, yet they still competed. That is how damn good the offense has been and is. Mikey Stoops is no longer around on defense. You aren’t going to automatically get all those 5 star linemen and dbs anymore. You will still get enough, but a fellow blueblood like OU will compete, you can bet on that. All OU has needed was a half ass defense. We will be better than that now. I look forward to the competition.
They competed ? They lost easily to Alabama who cruised after getting a big lead. They got Slaughtered by LSU. The only competitive Playoff game was against Georgia. OU blew a big lead in that game. I am not saying they won't compete. Recent history shows they don't have the tools currently to beat the best of the SEC. Maybe a few recruiting cycles will help but Alabama, Georgia and others aren't going to get worse at recruiting and your school joining the SEC gives those schools greater access to your region. Look what Alabama started recruiting from Texas once TAMU joined the SEC. They got some of their best Offensive talent out of that State once that region was opened up to them. This last Class alone Alabama landed 7 players from Texas 2 5 Stars. What you perceive as a new advantage for OU Alabama and Saban usually turns into an advantage for them.

OU has been doing this a long time and fears no one. I look forward to the competition. As I said there will be years where we lose a few more games, but make no mistake about it, there is another blueblood around now. On offense we have been a big part of revolutionizing the game, now let’s see what happens with some defense as well. I truly hope everyone keeps expecting the same OU.

Ummm...., yes.

The -2 is that they are favored.

Just like every other game.
ummmmm
Alabama -2 means Bama is favored

"Just like every other" time a team has a - sign before the #.

If it were Alabama +2, that would mean OU was favored.

You're right.

Read it completely wrong. My apologies.

Not scared of OU as long as Saban is in Alabama. Heck look at your recruiting class this year. IF OU ends up in the West...They have the 4th best class just from that Division. Maybe it does get better for them but it really looks like OU (again no offense intended) is going to have to adjust their expectations a little bit. Winning the West alone is probably a 1 in 4 year thing for OU. That is a big change from winning the Big 12 every year.
