Super Bowl 2013: 49ers' Alex Smith backs Kaepernick - San Jose Mercury News

When it was suggested to Smith that perhaps he should wish five interceptions upon Kaepernick in Super Bowl XLVII, he bristled.

"Why do you play football?" Smith said. "Why do you play a team sport? If it's all about yourself, go play golf. I'm not saying all this has been easy. It hasn't. But if you can't be happy for a teammate's success, there's something wrong with you."

Ahh, what a horrible bait that was.

The 49ers staff had prepped Kaepernick for Tuesday's assault -- more than 5,000 media members are credentialed for the game -- and warned him in particular about people who might show up in costume with nonsense questions.

However, only one "reporter" in a Superhero outfit showed up and posed a query about whether it's possible to make an apple pie from one apple. (Yes, really.) Kaepernick answered correctly (yes).

Someone else asked Kaepernick to sing the Rice-A-Roni jingle and a Mexican television crew asked for him to name his favorite vice in Spanish (candy.) There were requested shout-outs on video to Japan and Turlock.

I wish the NFL would hire me to determine who should get a press credential and who shouldn't.

He has pretty much said the worst things he could've, not that I'm surprised by it. Disses Rice? Check Complains about role? Check Pretty much saying he wont be back next year? Check and good
