Let's see...

Randy Moss at 35: 434 Receiving yards.
Jerry Rice at age 36: 1,157 Receiving yards.

I wouldn't "live on numbers" if that were the case either. I'd look at the "impact," which Moss clearly made in a greater proportion. :rolleyes2:

On Monday, a source told Pro Football Talk that Smith is "expected to seek his release before the start of free agency."

Said Smith, "I have no idea where that came from."

Exactly what I thought that was, a pure bullshit story by Florio hoping to cause some sort of distraction for the 49ers.

Reports and their unscrupulous bullshit of "a source close to the situation", which is pretty much just a nice way of saying this is my opinion and I'm going to qualify it by pretending I have a source close to the situation.

Yep. + Million. He could have at least said Smith's agent, as opposed to Smith. I've read on Facebook some comments that act like Smith wouldn't want a trade, even to the team of his choice. I'm pretty sure Smith knows that if he wanted more money, he could negotiate a better deal after the trade or get an extension the next year. The only truth to this could be Smith wanting to avoid a team like the Jets or staying here as a backup - or his agent thinking he could get more money. All athletes (or most people) would want more money, but Alex doesn't seem to be on the high end of the scale of those who desire more compensation. I think he could care about where he plays, but I think he'd handle that after the SB, not before. This, at best, is his agent and Florio doesn't even say that. This, at worst, is Florio making shit up. I share your disdain about the "sources close to the situation."

I also dislike those speaking on anonymity in some cases. (As a fan, I'd like to know some things, but personally, I dislike it - put a name to it or don't say it. But that depends on what it is - like the comments on Tebow from the Jets' lockerroom - put your name to it or shut up - it's not news that some don't think he's a passer - specifically who would speak out, might be news if the day is slow and you have nothing to do an are a Jets fan.)

Sean Jensen:

Randy Moss: "I don't like my role. I like to be out there playing football."

------------------

Gregg Rosenthal:

Moss says he understands his role, but he doesn't like his role.

Gregg Rosenthal:

Moss confirms he wants to play another year. In SF? "We'll see about that."

----------------------

Eric Branch:

49ers Randy Moss: "I do want to play another year."

Bad timing. I wish he could have deflected the questions better. But he's been good so far this year and professional, so I won't make a big deal of it. I guess we all want honesty without pointing fingers. Saying he wants a different role but working hard through it, is a bit like Alex saying he wants to play and working through it. It would be a bit of a double standard for me to not want him to say anything. Just work hard at whatever role you have, show your teammates and coaches respect, and I'm happy.

Yeah, the anonymous stuff in cases like Tebow is just ridiculous and cowardly. When Florio says he has sources close to the situation in regards to Smith and his contract, I call total bullshit. The only thing I have seen from him in regards to the 49ers is having Maiocco video chat a few times during the year and then take every silly quote by Harbaugh as a personal attack to his(Florio) intelligence.

If his source is Maiocco then what a joke... because that was probably just Matt's opinion that Alex might ask to be released. Cause hey, technically from a certain point of view Maiocco is close to the situation as a 49ers beat writer.

Ed Werder: Do you regretted leaving the lineup following your concussion?

Alex Smith. Not at all. You only get one brain and you have to protect it.

Beautiful.

I just heard the sound bite from Harbaugh respsonding to President Obama saying he'd hesitate to allow his son to play fotball if he had one.

Harbaugh is the friggn' greatest; he's hillarious. My favourite thing about the 49ers in the '90's was Steve Young, but now my favourite thing about the Niners is Harbaugh.

A+ the way Alex Smith handed Deion's questions in my opinion. Impressive again. No shocker there.

Niners Nation: Marshall Yanda on 49ers pass rush: they don't really have a weak link. Ray Mcdonald does a lot that goes unseen

Super Bowl 2013: 49ers' Alex Smith backs Kaepernick - San Jose Mercury News

When it was suggested to Smith that perhaps he should wish five interceptions upon Kaepernick in Super Bowl XLVII, he bristled.

"Why do you play football?" Smith said. "Why do you play a team sport? If it's all about yourself, go play golf. I'm not saying all this has been easy. It hasn't. But if you can't be happy for a teammate's success, there's something wrong with you."

Ahh, what a horrible bait that was.

This video is in reference to the first quote, the horrible bait, isn't here, but I quoted both because they were both on the same subject.

How ya really feel Brother??? Haha ;)

lol. I'm just giving him a hard time. With Kaep developing as a passer, Kyle could be a descent weapon for us in 2013-14 season. He's underrated as a receiver, but I still hate him for that one game last year. :gaah:

You're always good with me my Brother! Here's to hoping that come Monday morning Kyle's gaff's are but a distant memory - :suds:

Lindsay Czarniak:

what kind of lunchbox did you have as a kid? .... how ticklish are you? two #SuperBowl media day questions i haven't heard b4. c u @ 6p

I'll say it again. I want the NFL to start regulating who gets in to media day and I desperately want them to create a position where somebody gets to either accept or deny each request to get in and then I want them to give me that job.

ESPN Stats and Info:

49ers feature nearly twice as many former 1st-round picks (15) than the Ravens (8)

Look at who some of them are though.
