The LTIR cap space goes away when the player comes back even in the playoffs I thought. So if they would use the space when he is gone they would have to fix it when he returns.
and parise isn't going to be?
Does it worries you that all hockey players take hits or is it just Cindy that you worry about?
I'll honestly say I hate Cindy & Gina and the rest of the Pens with a passion. However I am also not in favor of guy taking cheapshots at any NHL player(of the intent to injure variety).
At the same time I'm really tired of reading about how they're "worried" about how Cindy will hold up being hit game after game. If you want to see go with the Flyers - Pens series from this years playoffs. You'll see how much the physical plays wear on him from game 1-6 he became a totally different player. As the series dragged on he kept his head up more, tried to limit his exposure to the dirty areas, shed away from physicality and started dishing out more hacks and slashes(game 6 he calmed down with this but games 4&5 he was as brutal as Gina). This to me shows he wasn't physically ready to come back to play, the guy is a world class talent and will put some points up but to be a dominant superstar he has to be able to do more then just score.
The truth is I don't think you're getting the same Cindy back as before his concussions, that's probably true with most players who go through the same situation. Pitt is going to need to insulate him a bit and try to find him some wingers who have sped and can bang a bit for him to be the most effective.
I'm not a huge fan of long-term contracts at this point, think the last 2 years have soured them. I'm all for teams taking full advantage of the current CBA though so I suggest they do it will they can, since I think in the new one contracts will have stricter perimeters. This is no risk to the Pens though monetarily though as if Cindy goes down for good his cap hit comes off. Shero's done a good job this off season so far guess we'll find out if that turns to great over the weekend.
A tangent... why do Pens' fans have such a hard on for Parise all of a sudden? Scoring goals is not their problem. It's defense and in the net that are the issues. I would think landing/trading for a top defender would be the best way they could improve this off-season.
They may make the same amount on the market. Someone will throw big money at Parise, but the Pens won't offer more than around $7 I'd guess. I'm not sure I'd want Suter at that rate...I dunno. This is why I'm not the GM! Haha. I just feel like Suter is the BIG fish in a pond that's rather scarce, while Parise's a big fish in a slightly more crowded pond.
if you dont want suter at 7 then i dont think you want suter haha.. if he doesn't get at least 7.5 i'll be shocked.. and i'm not sure stopping at 7 gets parise either.. but i guess we'll see what happens on sunday!
Weber made 7.5 last year & is an RFA. Suter will probably cost some team at least 8 million per.
Might have been a good post.... but I quit reading when I saw "Cindy"....c'mon man...I love the deal...it is absolutely the "hometown discount"...and it gives them room to do some other deals...'Parise?' maybe...and the word on the street is that Geno may be willing to offer his services for a little bit less as well...
The reason I don't think the Pens will get Suter is because he very likely wants a lengthier deal, and I doubt Shero will give that to a Dman right now. Letang will be needing a contract soon, and there's a lot of money tied up there, but more because there's a slew of guys just waiting to get called up NOW, let alone a few years down the road. Our system is ridiculously stocked right now, so why tie up $7.5-8 million in a guy for a long time when you'll very likely have some talented young players coming up on entry level deals? I dunno. For the NOW, Suter is the better idea.
pretty sure the REAL reason Shero is interested in Suter is because the Flyers already made it clear they were. If that's the case I have to give Shero credit as it's a great tactic to get another team to possibly overpay(even more) for his services. I doubt the Flyers have any chance anymore whether he wants to play here or not due to the contract he will probably be able to get on the open market. Also if the Pens did get Suter and could move martin they could package up a bunch of prospects and get a really good winger, which would me me not happy at all...
why does this sound familiar. I know it happens all the time but wasn't it in the last few years a bidding war happened and the team that didn't want the player but wanted a higher bid for their rival got them.

Sounds like an episode of "Storage Wars", Dave Hester pretends he's interested in a storage unit and drives up the price for the other bidders.
He will forver be Cindy to me until he stops crying and bitching to the refs every time he's touched. This is hockey not the ice capades. I already said he's a world class talent, he's also a whiny little bitch a lot of the time. If you're going to ignore posts based on people disliking your team's star you'll probably miss out on a lot of good discussions, but hey your call.
love that show its like crack
