Nobody forced you to put yourself at a disadvantage(which is greatly overstated). So why does it now need to be a rule that all play the same?
Because looking at actual strength rather than stupid labels is too hard.

I don't decide how many games a conference chooses to play. And the disadvantage is not greatly overstated when some teams are risking an extra loss every season and others aren't and that extra loss keeps them out of the cfp or lands them in a less desireable bowl game.
If you can't see why all conferences, which are all playing for the same ultimate goal are playing under the same rules. Really shouldn't be that difficult to figure out.
That's a thought.Eliminate all OOC games. Play all conference games only. Conference title winners make the playoffs. Open up OOC games for playoffs only.
Bowl teams with 3 or less conference wins (since 2014)Nobody forced you to put yourself at a disadvantage(which is greatly overstated). So why does it now need to be a rule that all play the same?
You mean when the PAC 12 starts scheduling, "Mercer" type schools?Yeah, because the guarenteed conference wins mean nothing.
When the Pac12 wins the majority of their OOC games to start with, then you can start blaming it.
Because scheduling a team that might actually be a threat requires balls.![]()
^^ This.No. The more OOC games the better for the sport. I wish all the conferences would go to 8 conference games.
Too subjective.
Sure, tOSU got 50+ dropped on them. But they persevered, beat an unbeaten team and won a title. But Kirby doesn't care about perseverance.

Yeah, I didn't think that Mercer was much of a threat.Because scheduling a team that might actually be a threat requires balls.![]()
Yeah, because the guarenteed conference wins mean nothing.
And yet despite having 1 less conference game, the SEC regularly puts out tougher schedules.
But hey, grats on your struggle win against Western Michigan and Texas this year and getting blown out by Notre Dame. It makes it extra funny when you cry for conference champions deserving to make the playoffs.
What you can't seem to grasp is that those conference wins aren't always guaranteed. Oregon St. was pretty much a guaranteed win this season. However, they have also been ranked 5 times in the 2000's and have had some solid teams that didn't get ranked.
So they are not always a "guaranteed win." Schools like Mercer and Coastal Carolina are always guaranteed wins.
Again, it's the difference between a team that has a chance to be a threat and team that will never be a threat.
Eliminate all OOC games. Play all conference games only. Conference title winners make the playoffs. Open up OOC games for playoffs only.
Well No shit. If The Pac played one less game against each other and played two Mercers and Chattanooga also so every good team gets bumped up a few spots and every bad team is bowl eligible then the whole conference would have more ranked teams then BINGO tougher SOS. SEC SEC SEC
Good point, as long as the SEC can get a 3rd place team in the conference, into a 4 team playoff, then why change anything?Pretty simple
SEC doesn’t need 9 conf games to get a team into the playoffs so why bother tipping the risk/reward scale
