Yes, the players on team now are not players recruited to run this offense. Riley is fitting round pegs into square holes. Tressel is more of the power/run O that this team's players are there for. The kids on roster now are not the ones that can play in Riley's O set.

Tressel would have been a much better coach for Nebraska than west coast Riley is.

The heads of Nebraska Athletics made a commitment that they need to honor for a few years. Firing a "nice guy" after one season will look really bad.

think about it from the perspective of the great coach the nebraska fans want. you just fired a 9 win guy which is virtually unprecedented to begin with. then you don't give the next guy 3 years to recruit guys and try and install his system. every stinking coach out there is going to look at that job and think, "shit they want me to win 10 games and do it the first year, i can't do that with the talent in place there, no chance i'm going."

we'd be lucky to hire an FCS coach to replace Riley.

I want Jim Tressel and I think that he can get 8 or more wins in his first year. I also think that he can recruit the shit out of Ohio and go toe to toe with the nations best recruits and win. he will have a great big ten style of footballgreat defense and run the damn ball. and have a successor lined up for when he retires. He might be here 7-8 years take a nice AD job at Nebraska after that. And keep this train a chugging for the next 10 plus years.

As dissapointed as I am in this season, I still feel he needs some time to get his system/recruits in place. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now, but if there isn't an improvement next year, then I'd probably be in favor of some changes.
