Granted we have only seen the tip of this play from Jean, but if he can avoid the injury bug and continue to hit and play defense the front office is going to look pretty damn good with this deal...

Regardless of what happens over the next 5 or 6 years with him, this is the happiest I have been as a M's fan in many of years. To me we can only judge it on the here and now and the here and now says a very, very good move for both.

I like keeping Segura. One the flip side, however, we will have six guys (Felix, Seager, Cano, Cruz, Segura, Iwakuma) consuming $110 million of the payroll next year. So, unless we see a dramatic increase in payroll, the rest of the team will have to be filled with about $30-45 million. WE have a a lot of good young players who haven't hit arbitration eligibility yet and will make at or close to the MLB minimum. But there may not be money we sorely need to get some quality veteran arms for the bullpen. Getting tired of our April and May bullpen resembling the Seahawks offensive line.

Kuma will be gone in my opinion. I believe it is a team option.

What a great deal. He easily could have gotten more in the market but he's seeking stability, that's why there is a no trade clause.

I'm late on this but this feels like a home run of a deal for both sides. Maybe a good start to developing a younger core here.
