So? If the wall's gonna happen, just do it. At this point, when illegal immigration is at a low anyway, let them have their god damn wall. It was a major campaign promise, people voted for it, and in a couple of years the Dems get to tar and feather the Republicans by asking where that cheque from Mexico is.

It's still better than kicking the can down the road when it comes to DACA'ers, which, surprise, is why Obama had to enact an EO anyway after a Democratic congress couldn't pass actual legislation to protect these people in the first place (DREAM Act - Wikipedia)

Yes well aware of the EO in the first place that once again proves the point why nothing will ever get done via Congress.

Obviously, the "erase everything Obama did" trope is real and plays a part but, frankly, if Congress can't work something out in 6 freakin months then they're every bit as useless as they're made out to be. It's plenty of time to get this taken care of.

And again, the key point to me is there is no reason to completely remove it other than spite. It's a system that exists, and he is killing it with a mandate to replace it with something that is the same.

I would love nothing more than some "Wag the Dog" kind of thing where it is "uncovered" that Obama spent 8 years secretly trying to get the wall built. Just to watch Trump drop the issue like a hot rock.

So....This is the point why nothing will get done. Using this to push the wall through just proves the point.
Congress has as much incentive to get this done as Trump did to pass the buck to Congress in the first place. The last thing they want is to have twitter fingers calling them out for another few months like they did after the healthcare failure.

So it makes perfect sense to just rip it all out and set a timeline for when you have to fix it by... :thumb:
Honestly, if he had given them 6 months to get it all together instead of the un-coordinated, disaster of a few weeks they took they probably would've gotten it right (by their standards and requirements).

I guess Trump's learning?

You know, Hurricanes were a factor in my decision to move west. They were few and far between, but when you are in the middle of one, it's terrifying. And the worst one I ever went through was a Cat 2. It's just hours upon hours of listening to wind and rain and breaking trees and your house creaking, wondering if at any moment the roof is going to fly off.

I don't even want to think about what it's like to sit there through a 5.
