Amazon Is Planning a Second Headquarters With 50,000 Jobs

Local TV News teaser "Columbus among cities under consideration for Amazon's second headquarters"

Well, yeah. In the sense that it is a city in North America. All Amazon said is they want to build a second HQ and are asking every city in North America to submit proposals.

And when I searched for an article to include, I saw similar news results from websites for local news in Tampa, Indianapolis and Phoenix. "Could it be coming here?"

I sort of hope it won't come here. I mean, it will be nice to have all those open jobs driving up the value of my role where I am. But locally we are at near 100% employment in Information Technology and are Underemployed in Information Security. My company just hired three people and we had the jobs open for more than a year before we found candidates. And the turning point was when we opened the search up nationally and offered relocation. One from Florida, one from Nashville and one from Dallas. There just aren't enough qualified people to fill the jobs here as it is. Unemployment overall is under 4%.

Inside stuff I really didn’t think anybody would care about, Amazon was in long negotiations for this development in downtown T.O (directly across from the ACC, coincidentally) before CIBC signed off as anchors.

Bay Park Centre Unveiled as 'CIBC Square' at Ground Breaking | Urban Toronto

Could've just been for a new regional office and then as things changed at Amazon they wanted bigger, but could've been for this and the gov'ts wouldn't give them enough tax breaks so now they've started a public bidding war.

You'd think that these idiot, far-right republicans being wrong all the time would lead to them being robbed of their base by other political parties, but they just keep on trucking.

All that matters is they ain't gunnna takes mah GUNZ!

"As you can clearly see, Mr President, right here is a guy who came to the USA from Cuba as a 3 month old. He is currently an EMT and is personally driving old people to shelters."

"Well, if the Hurricane doesn't get him, we will nuke his house. Bigly."

Can't help but notice the 8.5 x 11 version on his desk.

"Who printed this? I can't even see Florida! Make it bigly!"
