Cruz should have accepted the QO and then we wouldn't be in this mess with Choo, but he didn't and we are, so yay.

The only think about that is that if JD thought he would have accepted that he wouldn't have offered it to him.

Well I don't believe in sunk costs. Would rather release him or trade him for nothing if he gets to be too bad. I and hoping and praying that he can start off next year like he did this year and be not get hurt. Team was already barely hanging on, but when he took a nosedive so did the team.

Unfortunately I think he ends up being moved with the Rangers eating a significant part of the money owed. Sure hope for a different result though

He knew he wouldn't accept it, it was only for the draft pick compensation that he did. JD didn't want Nelson back really and it backfired. Hope he learned from letting him walk. There would have been plenty of OF opportunities to play him in if that was the deal breaker. Chalk this one up as a miss and move on

I don't think he will be the only one we have to do that with.

Rev all I started out saying was that his season wasn't made by him playing in Camden Yards. It was insinuated earlier that his good season was due in large part because of where he is playing. You are the one who brought up that we offered him a contract. I simply said that that contract offer was irrelevant due to how much the circumstances changed later. My stance has been since you brought that up that they never offered him a contract once his demands went down and there is nothing on the internet that contradicts that belief that you have claimed is silly.

If it is September and it is over and done with then why did you bring up our offer that we gave him almost a year ago right after the 2013 WS?

Because I don't understand why anyone is talking about Cruz still. He's not a Ranger anymore. Yeah it would be nice if he were still a Ranger, but he's not. Would loved for the 2011 team to have stayed together forever and replay that season over and over again like the movie ground hog day but this time they get the WS WIN!

If he wanted to be a Ranger he had every chance to stay one. He chose to move on and I don't fault him for that. He's likely going to stay in Baltimore after this year and I cannot say I blame him. Maybe the team really was hurt he decided to accept the suspension and because of that were not as aggressive in resigning him...I really don't know. Maybe he stays in Texas and rips a hammy two weeks into the season. Lots of ifs and buts. I just know it's been full circle here a thousand times talking about him. He remains one of my all time favorite Rangers for what he did in his time here, but he's gone now.

I am sorry if I come off as implying it's only you. We are all doing it. We sound like a bunch of sad ex boyfriends crying over the one that got away.

I don't think he will be the only one we have to do that with.

Fielder could prove not healthy enough to ever be moved no matter how much they ate of his contract. Hope he returns to 80% of what hey paid for really, but there is an outside chance like Harry he could likely be done. Sure hope not. I like Daniels approach most of the time but I feel his pride gets in the way of chalking up the Fielder move as a loss any time soon. Unless of course like I said he unfortunately wouldn't be able to come back physically

No problem Rev. I would discuss getting rid of Pudge too early if someone would discuss it with me. lol

I am just afraid that he will cling to the hopes that Fielder will rebound too long and we will miss out on other moves for other 1B in the mean time. It could affect many decisions. I hope for Prince's sake he rebounds, but if he doesn't I sure hope we can identify that he can't as soon as possible.

I think Fielder needs to be viewed as a DH and MM needs to be moved (though the return would be nil) and 1st base should be addressed now. I hope Rua is just a year or so away from being able to contribute at the ML level or hopes that Nicholas could be an everyday 1st baseman on the ML team in a year or so. Then there is a possible log jam though cause I would want AB re-signed as they DH in a couple years. Time will tell I guess

I like to remind Fraley of his article praising the Rangers for moving Pudge at the "right time."

I actually liked Doug Melvin, but was never fond of Hart.

The people who really want JD gone and call him blunderboy and all kinds of names must not remember the GMs Texas had before. Do they not remember the awful teams that were assembled before he came along? The 90s had moderate success and before that nothing sustained...I don't get it. I guess people really did think that Nolan Ryan built the roster, but have no damn clue he didn't do any of the player acquisition stuff. He was the face of the front office and handled the day to day operations, but cmon he wasn't signing the players and wasn't the one out there scouting the minors etc. JD was promoted in 2004, which was four years before Nolan was ever brought on and his system was well in place. It just annoys me that people gave Nolan so much credit for the roster coming together when it did when they totally ignored all the ground work it took from 2004-2009. That wasn't just an over night thing...GRRR Just a preachy post from Rev....

This is why I have major concerns with members of the FO and scouting personnel possibly heading to SD and then there is the members of the organization that Nolan is going to try and pick off in the Maddux Bros and or Bogar.

Hart was an idiot. Pudge hit his hand on the batters helmet making a throw to 2nd and it put him on the DL so when they traded him he stated that he felt Pudge was beginning a downhill ride because of catching so many games. I thought what a knucklehead reason because there was nothing that backed that up. Pudge ends up in 2 WS while winning 1. Plus Hart wanted Cat to play 2nd as he did not like MY. What a joke.

I remember exactly who and how it happened...Mo Vaughn was stringing through on a stolen base attempt and Pudge's right hand hit his bat and broke his thumb. If I remember correctly I think Pudge actually nailed the runner too. He wasn't traded though. They just let him walk in FA and he landed in Miami...I was so pissed.

Correct on the FA thing. I was just rambling and for some reason threw the word traded in my little tirade. Good catch.

Can't believe no one has commented on Jeter's Day at Yankee Stadium. Phony as a three dollar bill. He tried to out do Ty Cobb. Rev would have loved it.
