Washington hired Dan Quinn. Not a bad hire for them, to be honest. That organization needs stability and a steady hand. I think you could argue that someone like Quinn or Vrabel are better choices for them.
Sort of surprising how little interest Vrabel got this off season.

The good news is the Seahawks have an offense that doesn't require a great deal of change. Ideally get someone from the Shanahan/McVay/Waldron tree so the terminology stays fairly consistent.

They need to figure out IOL and TE (I thought their crew was fine last year, they just never got used for whatever reason) but outside of that the entire offense is set. The fact they were 11 YPA is pretty damn good. No surprise we had the worst TOP in the league because our defense allowed 6-8 minute drives every f'ing possession because we had the 3rd worst 3rd down conversion allowed in the NFL. Offense never got a chance to get the ball, and when we did, we were still down points.

I would imagine MacDonald's already got it in his mind who will be OC and DC... you usually don't get hired as head coach if you don't know who your candidates are and explain why. Schneider is not a new GM... he's been around the block before so I don't think you're pulling a fast one on him especially now that Allen (around 2022) pretty much gave him complete control and pulled the plug on Pete.

Owner/GM: "How do you plan to run the offense, something that would be new to you? And who do you think is a good person and why? Have you already contacted that individual?"
HC Candidate: "I dunno."
Owner/GM: "Great! You're hired!"

One thing that's interesting about all this.. is the 6 year contract. That tells me Jody is not planning on selling the team... otherwise why would MacDonald come here? I think that's why Washington struggled... new ownership means possible instability... Schneider and Allen (in part) have been around the league for a long time... there's a lot of FO stability, and if you don't have that I think that makes coaches get cold feet - especially someone as young/new as MacDonald getting his first stint. If he flames out BIG time in Seattle that could really ruin his career to be a long term HC.

I'm guessing he goes with Weaver now.
Won't a trade have to happen to get Weaver as DC? Maybe Martindale, former DC to Ravens? He's looking for work.

Hmm. Not sure. He's a DL coach right now so it is a promotion. But he's also an associate head coach so that could create complications.

He was interviewing for HC openings so IDK how attractive the DC position is for him. Guess we just have to wait and see how the staff is filled.

Well being a DC would help him to be a HC.

Listening to the press conference, im liking what im hearing, he is well spoken, humble, intelligent.

I was half expecting some awkwardness based on some of the things that were said about him but thats absent

So theyre drafting penix
Maybe. We don't even know if we are hiring him.

FTR, we shouldn't assume that someone that knows a player will definitely draft the player. They also know their flaws better than most.
