I dunno if they brought them to Seattle (I assume they did because none of those teams are in the playoffs) but they did in person with Kafka (Giants OC), Evero (Panthers DC), Graham (Raiders DC), and our ol' buddy Quinn. Obviously Johnson happened (although I think it was in Detroit), and MacDonald is doing his 2nd today.

If he gets hired, does jj mccarthy become a real possibility at 16?

I doubt it would make that much of a difference. Maybe he cajoles JS to grab him but ultimately it will be JS that picks a QB, if he decides to do so at all.

thats fair, it may be he wants a defensive HC so he gets dibs on the QB

I think he gets dibs on the QB because of his track record.

Pretty much picked Rodgers.
Wanted Wilson despite Pete saying no (Wilson was still an incredible QB - his legs and arm just gave out).
Tried to trade Wilson for Allen.
Strongly liked Mahomes.

I'd say whatever QB we select will be his decision and rightfully as it should be. Obviously your GM is going to listen to your coach... but on some things they'll just say "Nope. We're taking this." I have a feeling until 2022's draft, Carroll had all the say.

Well last year with Carroll's crappy offense (or Shane shit the bed) we still managed to be almost top 10 in Y/Attempt with injuries all over the OL, Geno getting hurt, and Walker/Charbs having some injuries... so not much should change there regardless of the OC lol.

At least one of the worst defenses in the NFL should improve...

While we don’t know how he’s gonna pan out, I like the hard reset, we needed it, I think had we went with Quinn it would have been more of the same … I like the dice roll! People are calling him a defensive minded Sean McVay, and that’s a dam good compliment…

I wasn't a fan of the Carroll hiring which I was blessfully wrong about. Hopefully I'm right about Macdonald being the solution.

He could fail, but this gives me hope that they moved on from carroll with good reason and not on a whim and they had a plan all along.

They are looking in the division and making moves to beat the niners and rams

I guess the good thing about MacDonald (didn't consider it) is the defense will kind of need a little rebuilding anyway.

Adams/Diggs are done. Wagner is getting too old, Brooks/Williams may be gone (FA), Taylor (FA), Reed played pretty good last year but he's cap savings and getting older.

The CBs and EDGE (Nwosu/Mafe) are pretty safe but it gives MacDonald quite a bit to work with. Had we gone an offensive coordinator (admittedly I was going on about Johnson but can't remember who here made me re-think a few days ago) there's not much change happening. The WRs, OTs, RBs are all here to stay. MAYBE you ditch Geno but he wasn't HORRIBLE last year and was beat up. You really just have to address the interior line and TE.

So hiring an offensive HC he's kind of stuck with what he's got. But the defensive side I'd say about 6 of the starting positions are gone. The whole DL, ILB, EDGE backup, and S has to be addressed.
